anyone any good tips on scanning, taking photos of cards.
I notice a lot of cards on here which seem to be like a digital version of the card but some cards are missing which I may have a poor quality photo of.
for example purpose

is this just taken from some stock photos off the internet or is this scanned/photo'd?

Supposedly all cards entered here are to be individually scanned. Not photograped and not taken from another location and moved here. Also, they should be taken out of plastic sleeves before scanning. |

The stock photo/digital mock-ups are problematic anyway as sometimes they don't match the actual card as produced. |

Hi G,
I made that scan.
I always scan my cards individually.
I scan them .jpg format (300 dpi). At that time the picture is about 2.5 MB.
When it's done, I crop them card by card, and I resize the picture (where X=500 pixels, Y= 'holding the scale', if the card is standing).
I just save and upload that new picture. I just use Microsoft Paint.  That's all.

I will confess that I've found a couple images online to finish sets that were 99.9% on scans. I didn't know this was an issue. I think I've done it twice.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster. |

I was wondering about the resizing. The site resizes the pictures when they are uploaded, but do you get better quality if you do that yourself before uploading?
I am using a software called PhotoScape which is free and I think it fulfills all my needs. |

You don't need to
resize before
uploading. I'd
actually advise
against it...you
lose detail by
resizing.
PhotoScape is the
best tool for
editing scans. It
corrects the colors
with literally two
clicks, crop,
rotate,
remove "scanner
scuzz", anything.
If you put a sheet
of green
construction paper
behind the scans,
it prevents the
scanner from
cutting off part of
white cards.

Billy, which two buttons do you correct color with? And how do you remove scanner scuzz? I just installed this program after reading your review, and I love the straightening and cropping aspect so much more than what I had been using. I wondered what edits you recommended for getting the best scan, since I know you scan a lot of cards.
