I'm working on a trade that if it gets approved will be over 1100 cards each. What's the most economical way to mail these? Does it need to be in those boxes provided by the PO, or would it be cheaper to send in large bubble wrap. I'm estimating about 3 pounds in weight for about 1100 cards.

USPS Priority Med Flat Rate Box (~$13 and change via Paypal Shipping) or there might be a Regional Rate box big enough. That's about my typical shipment size to COMC, the MFRB holds three 400 ct set boxes nicely with enough room to pad all around.

concur with previous answer. that the medium flat rate box is going to be teh best way UNLESS baseball cards qualify for media rate, which I don't know if htey do or not.

Ship with PayPal. Cheaper. or.... I've had a PO clerk tell me when I 1st starting shipping cards to stuff them in flat rate envelopes, he actually did it right at the counter...and said THERE saved lotsa money!!!
When it comes to shipping, I cut everycorner possible. I also use those plastic bags, and find the right price by clicking around. Go cheaper, ~BOB~

Regarding using media rate -
Media Mail CANNOT be used for: • Game cartridges or game consoles (e.g. PlayStation or Nintendo game consoles and video game cartridges) that contain a computer chip. • Blank Media such as blank CDs, DVDs, audio tapes and/or video tapes. • Video Tapes with advertising (trailers for movies are not considered advertising). • Photographs or photo albums. • Trading Cards, such as sports and hobby cards. • Films sent to or from commercial movie theaters.
This comes straight from the USPS website. And they CAN open your package to ascertain if it is indeed media. And they will!! I sent my grandbaby a set of Peter Rabbit books, and was told as long as there was no other item in the box (including a birthday card!), media rate was good. Except for a small note, media mail cannot include anything other than media.
Just an FYI.

Thanks, Ray, I'd checked that out awhile back.

Just make sure to include one of these in every shipment:

Voila! instant media mail.

There is a weight where UPS rates become better than USPS rates - but I don't know where that threshold is. Both websites allow you to calculate costs without making the purchase.
