I think the other issue (like with the $149 twice issue) is that the seller can't be bothered to write a note (that's on the form with the spot to put in the price) a quick thing saying "This is the best I can do, please either accept this or decline". Really not that hard. People need a little more people skills.
On another note, I do have a list of ebay sellers I avoid. THe reason next to it is STICTLY MY OPINION only. Sometimes there may be facts to back it up, but please investigate yourself. Do not take my word for it on these sellers:

I completely agree with you about "deans_cards" and "tntnorthnj"! Those were instantly recognizable names to me. I don't think I've dealt with any of the others before.

I've sold a lot on ebay in the last 10 years or so and as a seller that usually sells fixed priced items I don't mind a buyer sending me an offer as long as it is a reasonable offer. A few years back I was going to get rid of all my cards and put them all on ebay to sell as a lot. I had them on there for a resonable price, a few hundred dollars. I got an offer for $50.00. I get offended when buyers do that. They waste my time and theirs, sometimes it works both ways. But I would never raise the price of an item just because someone made an offer on it.

When I read your post I saw "tntnorthnj" and it rang a bell. I just checked the shipment I got yesterday and it was from them. My first order, too. Perfectly good cards, shipped quickly in tamper-sealed toploaders. Their feedback ratings on Ebay are pretty good with over 342.000 ratings and 99,3% positive. However that also means over 2.000 deals were not OK so you might be one of them.

tntnorthnj- I won an auction, paid, and they canceled it without an explanation until I asked.
Again, the views posted in my original post are mine, and mine alone. They are sellers I won't deal with for my reasons. Glad you had a better experience with one of them.

This has happened to me on comc. Put in an offer on a card to try and save a little money, then I get a rejection, and the price went up by a pretty good margin. Most of the sellers on there are pretty good, and I have happily purchased many cards from them. But, you know how it goes, there are always a select few who try to game the system.

I do a lot of eBay selling, and I've only once raised a price immediately after I received an offer. It was a card that I hadn't looked at in some time, so when the offer came in I looked at comparable sales to see that my BIN price was actually below two very recent auctions. I sent a message back to the seller saying I appreciated the offer and explained my reasoning, and countered with the offer that was equal to my original BIN price (again, still below the two most recent sales) and changed the BIN price. The potential buyer sent me a not so pleasent message and declined my offer. I wound up selling the card 2 days later for more than my counter to that buyer.
Sellers make mistakes all the time, or have such large inventories that they can't keep track of trends on hundreds/thousands of cards. So long as the seller explains their reasoning, I don't particularly see an issue.

I made a purchase on ebay prior to this this post starting and it turns out to be an auction with tntnorthnj. Recieved the cards ('82 Topps Traded minus the Ripken) and recieved the cards in 2 days. tntnorthnj had also put each star card in a sleeve prior to shipping so I can't complain here......

Glad you had a better experience too. Looks like less than 1% have problems with them. I guess I should feel special....
