Not sure if you're hip to this yet, but a lot of pro teams will send out fan packs if you contact them (email them from the contact page on their website and ask for a fan pack).  I did the rounds with MLB two or three years ago and got a little zip lock baggie of dirt from Fenway Park.

If your kid is anything like I was as a kid, it will blow his mind to get mail from his favorite team.  Would be a nice video for the YT channel, too

I hadn't thought of that. I'll have to check out a couple of team websites.

Last season we sent a card to Nazem Kadri of the Leafs to be signed. It was a good letter-writing exercise for my son, and he was thrilled when the card actually came back with "To Cameron, Nazem Kadri" signed on it, especially since we checked the mail after getting home from a hockey game his team had just lost. It was a nice pick-me-up.

Admittedly our collecting project has stalled. We've picked up the odd Tim Horton's pack after hockey on the weekends, but no MVP. I bought him another blaster for his birthday, so that ought to take a chunk out of the wantlist and, more importantly, give us some dupes to trade.

Loved the exchange: Dad: "Those are really old." Cameron: "Yeah, but who cares."

I kept laughing after watching that.
