Not only did Donruss and Fleer both have gum in 1981, but I believe it was the Donruss gum that was actually much better than the other two, it was actually soft.

I don't see the problem. The cards don't ruin the gum. I just chew the card along with the gum. It's a taste sensation!
Wait... some people buy these things for the cards and not the gum?

Doesn't look like the original question in this thread was ever answered. I have the same problem, I have a bunch of cards I picked up as part of a collection that have gum that has become glued to them, or in some cases between them. Trying to pry it off takes the front of the card with it, which I'm trying to avoid.
Do you think steam would ruin the card?

Canned air. Spray it upside and freeze it off. An ice cube In a plastic bag might work too.

I totally agree with Billy on this one! It's already ruined before you attempt to do anything.

As the op I can tell you I gave up on those cards. I never really got around to trying much and got tired of them being in the way. Mine were bad enough that the gum damaged showed through on the other side of the card.

I've heard peanut butter works. You may want to double check however, that could be for hair and not cards.

I guess we need to document that a variation is the gum attached, because I don't think thats a printing error.
I kid of course
