A dealer told me that Topps used different types of Card Stock in the late sixties. He stated that 1966 football and 1968 Baseball are primary examples. Can anyone further elaborate?

Some of them are on light cardstock, similar to O-Pee-Chee, not the traditional brown cardstock of the 80s. I don't know enough about baseball to know if they come in variations or if it's one cardstock for the entire set.

Two different cards stocks. The white card stock is thinner and feels less dense than the cream colored stock.

I think it is even more apparent in both look and feel in the '68 football set

Topps use of different paper stock was not limited to sport sets or to just Topps issues in the US. Here you can see the difference in the '66 "Red Bat" set from O-Pee-Chee.
