Maybe if I spent a little less time looking at cards, I would have a significant other and answer the question!

eh, You might be better off.
Figuring I started this thread I might as well chip in. Wife #1 was indifferent until the divorce decree, then I had to actually add the collection to the paperwork to be left to my sons. Meanwhile, Wife #2 didn't really care, actually helped with the collection for years, including the steppies. As years went by I added my Trains, RC Construction Vehicles and Hess Trucks to my collecting hobby. Over the years, Wife #2 has drifted away from being a helper to more of being. hamper. My arthritic hands take a beating in any of the hobbies, forcing me to ask for a few minutes of help time. Not a hint of help but I get "it's a hobby, just a hobby...Do the dishes!, Take out the garbage! Clean the bathroom! ". Now, here's the funny part, she will pickup some great yard/garage sale finds, and I mean finds, for me.

It was 21 years ago, so I replaced my Giffey and Buhner collections since. What is funny is after she left, I missed her and wanted her back but I look back now and miss the cards and want them back

very entertaining thread, thanks to those who replied.
mine is tolerant of the hobby, as long as I keep the main house area uncluttered. Clutter is ok in card room (which is awesome now that kids are grown up and out)

Lots of great comments. Mine has been largely supportive. I think sometimes she wonders if it is just some coping mechanism for some form of midlife crisis. On second thought maybe it is. She doesn't complain about the time or the cost. I know the space bugs her some times and I truly am working on thinning out the 80s and 90s portion of my collection. She sees that and tries not to nag. She knows I enjoy it and in general I am less stressed with other aspects of my life when I can take time to spend on the hobby. I have also been fortunate that my boys (6 and 9) are also interested. Them wanting to go to card shows or spend time looking at things goes a long way toward making it a more effective use of my time.

If the kids are involved then it's a no-brainer to stay at it and any wife would support that.
