These threads about organizing and spreadsheet usage have been very interesting.

It certainly seems that there is basically a different method for each person. :) My way won't work for you, just like your way won't work for me. (And that's directed at everyone who has talked about "their way".)

Yes they are interesting and I agree, my way that works well for me does not mean that it will work for you or that it is the only way.  But there are tidbits even for some of us that are fairly well organized and, for those who often have complained about not being organized, it has sered 2 purposes - ideas on how to get organized and the fact that knowing it can be done by other mere mortals.  

I think over the years, I have gone through most of the ways people have expressed.  I used to carry a 2 1/2" binder of the printed "Wants" spreadsheets; I have since gone to a tablet to have access to those. I also had my collection and my traders too close together (same room is too close) but now have them well separated as well as separating the PC from the sets.  I wish I had the computer skills to try Access instead of Excel as I think it would be more capable than Excel in helping to track what I have but when I took a class in Access, it just didn't really come to me.

Providing others your thoughts on how you are organized does help others.  Keep this thread alive with your own ideas or ask questions if you are unable to figure how to.

So good so far. Way to early to tell,  but the SS and diagrams really makes it easy to find cards. The Bookcase, Shelving, Cabinet diagrams are great. Just place the location code and color in each cell that represents a a set or album or box of cards or whatever. Then using my newly learned Excel tips, I can jazz it up even more with symbols etc. Think it's going to work, but take some time.

Someone here put a link to where you could make your own sports card from a design from a previous year.  Neat idea.  Once you make the card, you save itas a picture and you can use it where ever.

I am sure it is the same program C2Cigars uses for his now highly sought after set.

Evey one does seem to have their own method for spreadsheets, you can see and download mine at http://sites.google.com/site/scottzoe2/Home/master_sox  if you want to see how it's set up or just use it as a template. It took me years to get it to where it is now and is my master sheet to track everything regardless if somethins is or is not listed here, or on Beckett, or anywhere else.

Which SS do you use and why for your collection?

EXCEL or GOOGLE SHEETS

I use Google Sheets because it's much easier for me to link to my blog for others to browse my wants/offers/inventory etc. I have used both, and don't really prefer one over the other.

I’ve just started using google sheets, Free and easy to use and update on several devices. Seems to have all the functionality of excel.
