I have had Admin confirm an alias operating under a new name of AcunaBill, previously known as Schuber in various forms, and most recently outed as LithiaLion2 who is simply trying to get you to bite to his deception and give him your cards via trade. This, unfortunately is my second encounter with him and it's made me leery of dealing with any newbies.
Apologies to those of you who are new and are honest and law abiding and are simply trying to enjoy one of life's diversions. This is not about you, but you may be affected by us who have been collecting via TCDB and its wonderful trade tools if members heed what has been stated before and I reiterate: Beware of trading with someone who has no track record with TCDB, because they may have a record as in the case of this scum who is the subject of this post, but it's not through TCDB that I'm aware of.
I trade a lot. I've completed almost 300 trades all through TCDB - about 200 have left positive feedback and I have a 100% trading rating. I approached AcunaBill about a possible trade, but having had one taste without agreeing to a deal with LithiaLion2 recently left me a little gunshy trading with anyone new. So in this case my initial email asked if he was interested in a trade, and I added the stipulation that since he was new and had no record of deals with us if he'd be willing to mail first in a trade and I'd follow-up with mailing once I'd received his items. He responded by sending me a trade offer, a very ambitious one asking for a few modern RCs and some SNs that I have for trade. He offered several RCs to me in return, in fact he had three of the '89 Fleer Randy Johnson Variants and some others. It was very enticing, but I was skeptical. So I emailed him to ask if he'd considered my request to mail first because he'd not addressed that in his offer. He responded vaguely but affirmatively and went on to explain that he loved trading so that he could share his acquisitions with children with cancer at hospitals in the Atlanta area. He followed that up with an email asking if I could substitute cards I didn't have with anything else Trout, Albies, Acuna that was autographed, or jerseys.
I began thinking his benevolence didn't make sense to me since he was obviously wlling to trade prime cards to get some, and if he was giving it to children how could he have it to trade. So I responded by countering his trade with something much less attractive, yet still included a couple of RCs, but I asked for something of equal value, still pretty much less than $5.00 or so, and asked him if he was okay with the deal to accept and he'd have to mail first and...you get it.
He hasn't responded, but I believe he'll probably go after somebody else. Please be careful. I know it's just cards, but think about an evil person that's willing to use deceit to get something from you that you've worked hard to get. This is not charity! We do give to each other, and some give to those who aren't able to give here and in other parts of life. This guy epitomizes evil, and I wouldn't want him knowing my address.
So for me, if you're a new person to TCDB and you wish to trade, I'll indulge you, but you'll have to mail first and I'll have to physically receive whatever we've agreed to before I will send you what I've agreed to send. Once you've established a track record, then you'll benefit from good feedback which will open up more opportunities to trade.
