I have had this also. I think it is caused by one or the other party in a trade missing a step. Accepted > Sent > Received > Completed. EVERY step has to be hit.

That is correct.
Skipping "received" and going to "complete" can and will cause issues.
Helpful hint from my experience, never go to "complete" until both parties have "received". By doing so one can monitor that the other party has followed the steps, as you will get two notifications as they "receive" and "complete". If you only get one, they skipped it by mistake.

One way I've been bypassing the present system to avoid the problem of trading a card that was included in another trade and you only have one, is to mark any accepted trade as "Package Sent" even though I may not send for a few days, or in my case since I travel a lot between Texas and NJ, almost 2 weeks, and it helps. BUT you'd still have to check other deals that you've offered or are being offered because the same card may be there, too. So the other part is diligence on checking proposals. The issue you mentioned is a common one, so trader beward.

To answer the question completely: Your cards move from your FS/T list into the In-Transit list when you mark as "package sent". Same in opposite for the other trader. They move from In-Transit to your Collection when you mark "package received". The cards you sent to them will leave your In-Transit list when the other trader marks "package received". They will not move from In-Transit if the received step is skipped. You can do it manually from your Collection page and it doesn't have to be one card at a time.

There's also the tool (link on each completed transaction) that Admin implemented to help check and transfer the cards over in cases where the steps weren't followed.
Status:
Completed (Check Collection)

I just noticed last night that there is a heading of Received and another for Sent. So all this time for last month I was only checking if cards I got were transfered to me.
But all good

Robert “It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops. Today, October 2, a Sunday of rain and broken branches and leaf-clogged drains and slick streets, it stopped and summer was gone.” ― A. Bartlett Giamatti robertkimble.us/tradingcards

My In-Transit mess is on my To-Do list. I'm using the new feature to double check. Some of my very early trades just have to be "canned". Some that come up, i need to check my collection to see if I physically have them vs. the In-Transit list. More recent trades, as members get used to following procedure, seem OK. Work to do, what else is new?

I wish there was a designation or color code for the in-transit cards, on showing cards going to someone else and a different showing cards coming to me.

Working on a color-code key in conjunction with vroom. Maybe that would help.?
