When pulling cards for a trade, please pay attention to variations, error cards, and correction cards. I totally understand having cards entered wrong on the site. It's easy to do. Some of the errors and variations are pretty similar. But check the cards when they have those designations so you don't wind up sending a version of the card that your trade partner already has. This has happened to me with some regularity. When it does, it turns out that I just traded for a card that I already have or didn't want!
It doesn't take a lot of time to check when a variation of a card is marked. Please do this while you pull them. I know that no one here is purposly sending wrong cards. I've caught mistakes in my own collection while pulling for a trade. But at least I catch them before they go out the door and I can give my trade partner a chance to add something to the trade that they actually want instead of sending a version that they already have.
Thanks!
Matt

Not easy to do if the alternate version is listed as a parallel, and you are unaware that it exists. Not trying to argue; just pointing out a fact.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Some of the onus should be on the person receiving the variations, too.
If you know you're looking for a particular variation, it can't hurt to make sure your trading partner is aware that there even IS a variation to begin with. Can't expect everyone to know that kind of information, especially if the variation is one of those really minor, obscure ones.

Further to that, good communication between both parties would go a long way in alleviating potential snafu's.

You got that right. Some sets I'm looking for two of the same card and if you have two of the same card on a trade that you want and don't point that out on a message on the trade. The sender will only send one card. A simple, Please make sure..... message. Well, cover it.

What is that behind you!?! Oh, It's me! Looking at the cards you have, That I want. :)

I'm refering mostly to the error vs corrected cards. The ones that we designate on the site as an A or B (such as 56A and 56B). The description also includes err and cor in the description line for the card. I'm just asking to take a second look at your card when you see these designations. This helps everyone both catalog cards correctly in their own collections and offer up for trade the correct card as well.

I'm in total agreement that the seller/trader should confirm A/B variations listed in the same set, but it's really hard to keep up with the changes to the database when entire sets are revised for border width, number of asterisks, hologram type, or other small things that were not always even known to exist when the sets were first entered, worse when these are listed as parallel sets without having a comment on the main set set that alternate forms even exist, and especially problematic if you have trade stock in a sport you're not especially knowledgeable about. I hope to get all of that sorted out eventually, but for now I just a have a short disclaimer on my profile.

It's the reason I've quit trading. I would have to quit my job to have time to keep up with all variations being added. You pretty much have to check every set in your collection at least twice a month to be accurate. Who has time for that?
As far as the original post, once he explained that he was referring to standard ERR/VAR cards that have always been listed, his request is reasonable.

Maybe exchange scans of the cards in the trade, just saying

Trying to acquire one card for every for every set, insert, parralle, minor, euro, team issue, oddball etc sets produced for Hockey. Been an interesting project.
