Ah cr@#... I probably misunderstood... I will wait for further clarification before continuing or undoing what I already did...

...unless it's a card of the band Culture Club where Boy George (who is a member) is present, then both PIDs are linked. AFAIK.

I am talking about linking NAMES, as in the NAME FIELD. Link the name "Boy George" to PID 105831 (Boy George). Don't link the name "Boy George" to PID 218457 (Culture Club).

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Logically this makes sense and I agree its how it *should* be, but its also very impractical, especially on a site where all the contrubutors are volunteering their time.
If the card has a band name on it (take Menudo for example), anyone who has that card will know to link to the Menudo PID. As for WHO is pictured on the card, well the bamd members changed frequently and even a simple google search may not pull up rhe right info, so then only someone knowledgable on that band would know who to link. This would cause inconsistencies...
Just my take on it, I may be wrong

Then in that case, simply link the band and be done. Don't stress over the individuals.
As I noted before, if a card has one member of a band, but the card representing the whole band (like those 1979 Donruss Rock Stars), then it's OK to have the card link to both the individual and the band.
There should be NO LINKING between PIDs. This is improper use of the system. Besides, there are plenty of instances where musicians have worked with several bands (as mentioned earlier Paul McCartney with the Beatles and with Wings).

The way I'm reading Admin's reply would eliminate a lot of it. As I see it, he said to create individual PIDs for the band members if they have solo cards. A Beatles card would be linked to the Beatles, and each Beatle in the photo, since they each have solo cards. Might not be the case with Brewer & Shipley. A link to the band only would be needed, if neither has a solo card.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.
