I've had an idea for awhile but I'm curious if anybody else would find it interesting.
What if we added some kind of serial numbered card tracker to the site? I've always been curious to know how many serial numbered cards are still floating around in unopened packs or otherwise unaccounted for. Sure it wouldn't get everything, but if you collected, say, Ian Kinsler, wouldn't it be interesting to know if somebody else already had a 1/1 of his? Or maybe see who had an x/10 in their collection of a not-very-popular player that the person hasn't put up for sale because they don't think anybody would actually be interested? How many of those xxx/250 jersey cards are in a collection somewhere?
Does this sound interesting to anybody other than an OCD cataloging librarian?

Turning off trading because my collection is in complete disarray after moving and I don't know when I can get it organized.
Sounds great in
theory for sure,
but sadly I don't
think there is
enough people here
to even make a dent
in the overall
landscape of SN
cards. But I DO
feel your pain,
every single time I
have to let a SN
card go in an
auction somewhere I
always wonder the
exact same
questions. Case and
point I found some
older retail boxes
at WalMart recently
and the first one I
opened was an
absolute dud, I
still have two more
to open but it
crossed my mind to
the fact that maybe
all the good stuff
is already in
somebody's
possession. If a
tracker did exist
then you would know
the odds a wee bit
better. But then
again this hobby
just another type
of lottery!! LOL
Its all about the
odds.
When I was moving and staying with friends, I had my mail going to their hosue until I got settled. Turns out I had some cards delivered and their cocker spaniels had a field day with my mail!
I'm glad to find out about the serial number edit...now I have some editing to do!
I never noticed this either. I guess I will start updating mine too as I come across them. I'm not particularly interested in this personally, but my information may help someone else, so I will contribute to the cause.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.
Back in the day, I
always thought
having a place to
register serial
number cards would
be cool. So for
instance, if you
have a 2014 Tops
Black David Wright,
the database would
allow you to enter
the fact that you
own card #14/63 and
someone else can
come up on the list
as owning #37/63.
It would be a
record keeping
nightmare, and most
people don't care
too much about the
exact serial
number, but being
that I collect
#1's, I thought it
would be
interesting.
