As you know I'm moving Hockey and Basketball out of my collection, in large lots and Team Cards.
However, I do want to keep something in my collection. What would you keep??
1. HOFERs - I don't necessarily have a special collection but maybe for Hockey & Basketball it could work.
2. ROOKIES - I like RCs but value moves up and down. You could get 1 winner or 100 busts.
3. ERR/VAR/COR - I do collect these for BB and FB. I wouldn't search them out, but add what I have.
How would you rate them? or Collect All 3? or 1 or 2 out of 3? Please comment, because I have lots and Team Cards ready to ship to traders and buyers.
[FYI: Rm 1 is done for Hockey, Rm 2 Next on my list.]
TY for you input, ~BOB~

Personally I would rate exactly the way you listed... i.e HOFer's...Rookies... then Var/Err/Cor

For basketball, if the HOF list is too long, maybe shorten to the NBAs 50 Greatest players of the 1st 50 years.
No real thought on hockey. Maybe HOFers, or winners of a certain award, bad 90s hockey hair, or cards depicting the Stanley Cup. It sounds like you want to keep some cards, but not tons of cards. So a short and specific list might be good. Or just go by eye appeal.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

HOFers for sure....then I would do select fringe HOF rookies.

I'd say hof first, they are hof for a reason. Second, errors and variations. I love variations, some are impossible to pull(acetate numbered to 1???) While others are easier to get. Rookies last. Hit and miss, I've heard of people spending hundreds on Harold Miner and Mike Trout. We know how those 2 rookies have done..... I'd collect the first 2.

HoF's...Rookies...Error/Variations
Although I'd also ask if you are a fan of the sport, if you aren't a fan of the sport then I'd be inclined to be more open to part ways with all of the cards.

I would keep my favorite team. And if you are moving out basketball and hockey, I would not bother with the variations at all.

HOCKEY
Thanks for all the help And I really don't have a Fave team. So.............
HOFers, RCs [w/ value], Err/Var [only because I'm an Err/Var Collector] seems to work, but within reason.
I have offers to clear the rest out, plus Team Card offers. With an end in sight, sorting is quite rapid. I will have 10K-15K + to move when all is said and done.
Then I can start on BASKETBALL, I have 2-3x more to sort and clearout. UGH!!!!!
I can't believe how much space I've opened up! Super!,,,, ~BOB~
