I have two cards that I have been wanting to sell but have been terrified of the whole reprint thing. They look totally legit to me but there is that little lingering doubt in the back of my mind. The cards are 1961 and 1965 Bazooka Mickey Mantle. I opted to use SGC and will let you guys know how it works out.

Did you purchase them, or are you the original owner?

Im one of the few on here that actually likes graded cards, and been considering joining PSA for their quarterly specials...
Been really debating SGC cards. As I already have some PSA cards, I like all the holders to look alike, but the black background on SGC reqlly pops for vintage cards, and a lot of vintage collectors prefer SGC. They are even considered to have the most experience with vintage...

No I bought them 2 years ago at an off the road junk store in Missouri. Yeah those black backgrounds are awesome. I do have one of their cards in hand so I can vouch how handsome they look.

SGC is my favorite, waiting for 3 cards that I turned in at the local Pittsburgh show last month.

I really like SGC for prewar cards but prefer PSA for pretty much everything else.

Regarding PSA, depending how often you plan to sub on your own cards, you will likely be better off "piggy-backing" with other members. Bulk submissions (100 cards minimum @ $8ea) are the cheapest way to grade cards at the moment. Some members on CU offer other members to go with them on a sub.

Well I havent gotten the cards back from SGC yet but I do have the info on the website and it says that both cards are counterfeit. I paid $40 for each card then $35 for the grading. $115 down the drain. I guess the lesson I learned here is to never buy cards that I am not totally familiar with at a roadside junk store.

That's rough dude, but honestly, not that surprising. Shop owner had probably already submitted them himself and knew it too.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.
