I bought this damn scanner a week ago. Couldn't get it to do what I wanted. Gave up for a week and now I'm pissed off all over again.
Problem one: When I scan cards, it cuts off borders.
Problem two: This is likely Mac related...it wants to default send to "pictures," but I have no idea where pictures are. I'm new to Mac. Shouldn't I just be able to create a folder?
If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions, you have NO idea how much I'd appreciate the assistance.

Are you placing the cards up against one of the bed edges? If you are and that edge of the card is being cut off, then the scanner needs to calibrate.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Yeah, I was putting in the upper right corner, per the instructions.
On my old one I'd try and use a toploader, ruler or something like that that but then they seems to come out slightly crooked.
No idea about calibrating.

I've posted the following elsewhere...
One additional annoyance that can be avoided is by default the V600 scans 8.5x11" in the center of the glass. If you push cards up to the top or bottom of the glass to align straight, this chops off a bit of the card. To fix this, in the Size dropdown, select Customize...
Source Size Name: Maximum
Width: 8.50
Height: 11.70
Units: leave defaulted to in.
Click Save & OK
This doesn't completely solve it, but it's there largest you can set those values to to calibrate. I align to the back edge and slide back a touch. If it rotates a bit, it's easy enough to fix in PhotoScape.

I hate Macs, but have one at work.
Go to "Finder" on the bottom row of apps and you should see "Pictures" there on the sidebar.

- Place in center of scanning bed, don't worry about how straight it is.
- When scan is complete, use PhotoScape to crop and straighten.
This has been my MO for the last 3 or so years. Has worked very well and I have never had to worry about the borders being cut into.

Yep like Dan said photoscape way to go. You can adjust the straightness in there. I scan 9 cards at a time. Crop them roughly out of the big scan one at a time in photoscape then you can straighten them and finish cropping and doing any color correcting and save the file. I have a Mac and my scans come straight to my desktop. I pretty sure if you go into the printer settings you can set that up.

I use the v600. It has a very small scan window compared to other scanners. It took me a few tries to figure out how to place the cards for a scan, and sometimes it still cuts them off when it thinks it's helping. I put a piece of masking tape on the casing to mark the upper limit. Sometimes it scans there too but most of the time it does not.
Can't help on the Mac, I use a computer.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. Just wanted to follow up and say that I've got things figured out...at least enough to do the job. I was hoping that I could get it to self crop and align to make it a little faster, but ah well. Going forward my collection is more quality than quantity, so I shouldn't have a backlog. I can't attach pics here, but if you want to follow me on Twitter, I'm about to post some of the scans.
Thanks again! I know I've not been as active but great guys and gals makes this a great site. I've talked it up on Twitter and know that some of my followers have joined recently. That makes me very happy!
Happy collection, y'all!
