Traders. Yes, blue painters tape is a couple bucks a roll, but its low adhesion makes it ideal for securing top loaders or cardboard packages. I have thrown away so many top loaders because the residue left from scotch tape is so bad. If we all moved to the blue tape, we could reuse and reuse and reuse again top loaders across our community.
Please next time you are at home depot, target, walmart, pick up a few rolls of this and help reduce our plastic footprint.
I also now use it to label set boxes since i am often having to move cards between boxes and the tape comes off so easily.
Still looking for 78 Bretts.

I like blue tape (or tan making tape)
I have had card damage from clear tape several times.

I NEVER use tape on toploaders anyway. I use team bags to keep cards in the toploader and/or penny sleeves. Sometimes I need tape to seal old bags though. Scotch tape is not the problem b/c that is a brand name and that tape works well without leaving residue. It's all the cheap "clear plastic tape" that sucks to remove from toploaders and team bags. True 3M Scotch Tape is okay to use, but I still don't know why people want to use tape of any kind to keep cards in a sleeve or loader. I don't want the card to get stuck to the tape either and so many people don't think about that before they slap a piece on there. Regular masking tape also works well if it isn't cheaply made.
This is another situation where a brand-name product really is worth the extra money.

Agreed! I always use green painter's tape. It's really annoying to receive cards entombed in clear packing tape!

I bought a roll of blue tape over 2 years ago when I first started trading here; still have the same roll. Not from the lack of use, but the thoughtful use of it by other traders. it's amazing how many times a properly utilized piece of blue tape lasts. Traders on here are great about the tape. items received via SportLots or eBay, well, different story all together.....

Painters tape on toploaders is a huge upgrade from clear tape, but I agree with spazmatastic that team bags are preferable. Use your cheap clear tape to seal up team bags that are overused and no longer close.

Same experience here. When I receive a trade package, I carefully peel the strips of blue tape away and hang them from the inside of a cabinet door. Then I reuse the strips for trade packages I send out.

ignorant old guy....I've never heard of a 'team bag'....found them online...it looks like a penny sleeve that sticks together at the top? How many cards will comfortably fit in there without damage?

30ish cards depending on the thickness of the card stock. Sometimes more sometimes less.
