I've always been a set collector. But I realize I have many sets I'll never complete. So I decided to start an albums of my favorite teams. Thing is, I'm not sure how to organize them. Looking for ideas on how you guys might do it. By year, by player, etc.

I waver, but since I collect a few teams - Colt 45s/Astros, Cowboys, Rockets - and also some players from those teams, my problem is what to do with those player collections. For the most part I keep them separate as I don't usually have duplicates, unless they're from an '88-92 set where the overproduction benefits me. Other than that I have team sets with missing players in binders because I have those particular players in a separate binder.

You can organize them by name (alphabetical), year of card, brand (Topps, Donruss, etc.), position played.

I saw the best cards of my generation destroyed by creases, soft cornered hysterical edge wear, dragging themselves through the hobby shops at dawn looking for a top loader...

I lost an entire collection after an arson 2 years ago so my cards listed here have either been purchased since then or were stored in safe lock boxes at a family member's home. That said I have several binders used for specific sets or genres that are uncompleted. For example: a small 3 ring with the majority of the 2018-19 Panini Chronicles set in numerical order / a binder with collected topps chrome/finest/platinum (dated before 2018) and a separate binder for the more full collections from the last 2 years. I hope this makes sense....
I'm interested in reading what others are doing. - Becky

I collect Expos and some Nationals. I also collect OPC baseball and Bowman. The Expo cards are in binders, chronollogically by year. Each binder has a company or two in it. I have a few pages at the back of each section to stick cards into that need to be sorted (ie. Insert for 97 but no room in the 97 section yet) each new year and specific brand has a sticker on the first card to keep me oriented (ie. 96 Topps, the 96 Topps Chrome, then 96 Topps Finest, then...).
The biggest problem for me is keeping track of OPC and Bowman as I want one in the set and in the Expo collection and at times I've flip-flopped on which place to put it. I've settled on this though... I'm a baseball fan first. An Expo fan second. And a card fan third. So Expos take priority over sets.
Oh. My favorites(Carter, Raines and Guerrero Sr.) Have their own collection. Sometimes they dont make it into the Expo binders but they are still accounted for.

I'm mostly organizing over adding right now.

I collect Phillies team sets. I have Topps 71-present. All Upper Deck years. I keep them in the plastic slider boxes by year and in numerical order. Then keep the slider boxes in cardboard boxes. In between each year in the slider, I put a piece of black foam about 1/8 of an inch thick that I get from Staples.

What do you mean by "slide /slider boxes" being a former Bio-Chem student all that comes to mind are the plastic boxes made with slots for actual prepared or blank slides... just curious. Thanks! B

I personally sort by player, just find it easier to look through

I collect sets, all Boston sports teams, and Bo Jackson. My sets are either in binders if I like to look at them, or boxes. My Boston sports teams are sorted by sport > alphabetical by player last name > alphabetical by set name and year. As there are a lot of duplicates that I need for my collection I always add the card to the set first then team collections.
