As I enter images of all of my cards, I frequently come across cards that do not have a team associated with the player. If I have the card to enter the image, obviously I also know the team so if it is not yet linked, I add the team. In this day and age, with free agency, it is hard to know what year a particular player played with a particular team (other than the legends that were loyal to the one team). So I can understand that without the image, a team is not linked. But here is my observation - often I come across cards that have images already entered but the team is not linked. Can I ask that we all do our part and do this one simple step by linking the team if it is not already there? I know there are no points awarded for doing this but it does help all other members who collect particular teams. If the team is not linked, it will not show up in a team collection.
Just asking....

that def helps.. if you notice and compare the checklist from a few years ago to now, you'll see a big change. now a days, the teams are included when uploading checklist which makes it easy. I can say as this site progressed over time, there have been a lot of good suggestions and Admin has done a great job considering and incorporating them. It still takes a little effort to back fill much of the info. I know - for me - when i go through the "things to do" listing or go through my list, i try to update those entries little by little- that's all it takes. We'll get there in due time! there's a lot of great people here that put in a lot of effort correctling the little things and updating listings.

This is one of the few things that annoys me about this whole thing- when people post the scan but don't do it properly. Really poor scans are just as bad. It takes literally under 3 seconds to correct the color of the card, yet so many people can't be bothered to do it.
The teams being added with the checklist is due to people like myself taking the time to include the teams when they post it. You can still find checklists that do not have the teams included on new sets.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. Use the 'cards missing teams in your collection' report and fill in what needs to be added. Those reports in the collection section are so valuble in connecting what is missing from the site to the cards you own.

A big pet peeve of mine also, incomplete checklists being uploaded!! I always take the time to ensure checklists are complete with teams.
My stance is this, if you can't be bothered to upload complete and accurate checklists, then don't bother. You just make more work for other members.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

as I am loading my Phillies wants and haves I have been putting the team on the ones that are blank except for double cards that I don't know the other team. I am up to 2001 so I still have quite a ways to go

As a team set collector, I like to keep my own personal checklists which I create from the ones on this site so I know what I need. I do it this a year at a time. Anyway, as I know what players play for my teams I update the team names as I build my checklist. For instance, I have just finished 1996 for my personal checlist for my Packers. You will find that many fo the team sets have the same players and if you are not sure what team they may belong to during the year - find the card on Ebay or somewhere to check. Like someone previously suggested, If I know a player only played for one team, i.e.Dan Marino just update the team name for those cards also. If everyone, did something similar, the team names will get done faster. Be sure to do the team links and player links also if the card has more than 1 player from different teams. Use the full name of the pers on, i.e. Brett Favre, not B. Favre.
Just my 2 cents on the subject.

This came up a year or 2 ago in the forums, and I remember finding a list online of career one-team players for baseball. They could probably be found for other sports too. I agree, it would be nigh on impossible to get all of Todd Zeile's cards accurate without scans, but if it's a major league card of Chipper Jones, barring some kind of minor league flashback deal, it's going to be an Atlanta Braves card. So any time I'm making a correction on a checklist (i.e. changing C. Jones to Chipper Jones) I always add the team too, whether I have seen the card or not. Of course, if I'm adding the scan, I would know the team regardless of the player, so I add those too.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I agree with all of you. It's not hard to do when adding a checklist or even when adding scans. I haven't really gotten into adding my team-sport cards yet. I have added a bunch of NFL cards and I always added the team when missing, even if I was just adding the card to my PC or FS/T lists. Once I get to scanning the missing ones, I'll certainly do my part. The ones that bug me the most are dual player cards that clearly show the team each player is on.
I haven't really worked on the team links yet b/c I've been working on Racing cards where team-links don't exist. I have spent an entire year adding checklists, info, name links, scans, and anything else I can contribute. Since Press Pass closed a year ago, I will be able to move on to other sports soon. I guess I need to wrap up adding my NFL cards b/c I am pretty close to done there. I got sidetracked after I started adding the NFL traders and have been stuck fixing the Racing section ever since.
