Hi all,
The Topps baseball sets from 1975-1981 were unique (as far as I know) among Topps sets because the All Star cards during those years were the "normal" stat-on-back cards with some sort of embellishment indicating All Star status. These happened to be the years I was collecting most heavily as a kid, so it is not entirely coincidental that these All Stars are some of my favorite cards. Most of these years Topps would name 8 position players and a pitcher per league for a total of 9 All Stars per league. In 1981, Topps named three pitchers (RHP, LHP, and RP) per team, for a total of 11 cards per team. Anyhow, I thought it'd be fun to ask some trivia questions about these sets, most questions referring to the All Stars in the sets. Enjoy!
- Which is the only All Star card that was also an All Star Rookie?
- Which two players were named All Stars for all of the listed years?
- Which is the only All Star card where the team on the card is in a different league than the All Star designation?
- Which is the only All Star card from these years which is not a normal stat-on-back card?
- Who was the only player to receive All Star status is both leagues?
- Which teams in this era had the most All Stars in a single year?
- Which MVPs from 1974-1980 were not All Stars on the following year's card?
Out of curiosity, is there a term that I should be using instead for a normal, stat-on-back card?
Best,
Dave
