Every once in awhile I will check the additions to the Topps Now Baseball collection. It's kind of interesting to see what they issue, and don't issue (the Odor punch to Bautista would have been a classic). I decided that if the Tigers had any cards come up I would buy one, to kind of test the experience, while adding to my collection. It wasn't until recently that the Verlander 2000th strikeout card was issued. I am waiting for the Verlander cards to arrive. I had not checked until today, and see I missed by 2 hours of ordering a Francisco Rodriguez 400th save card. I am curious to hear about anyone else's interest in the Now cards & what they are collecting. I realize it's a small niche of a specialty card, that not everyone likes. If anyone has ordered a Rodriguez 400th save card that they want to trade for a Verlander 2000th KO, please pm me. Thanks all!

I think it's a cool little niche and approach it like you do but for Royals cards. I always miss the ordering deadline and end up getting them on ebay. The last two I bought were a buck cheaper than if I'd oredered a single card through Topps. It's interesting to me that people want over $40 for the 2nd card in the set that celebrates the Royals World Series win. There's nothing that makes this card any rarer than many other NOW cards that are available in the secondary market for $7. I haven't really paid attention to what the re-sale market is like for other players or teams.

I have looked at ebay, and some of the prices look favorable. I was wondering also if it's possible to get the checklist on the data base. I know it is incomplete, but cards could be added month to month, unless it's not possible to do. I am not up on the proper procedure, nor would I know what info to put in, since the cards have players, team, highlight, date issued and print run. Hopefully someone has an excel spreadsheet going and will add them when they can.

I am ordering the cards when the Royals are the featured team. (4 so far) I have been tempted to not order from Topps and try to pick the card up off eBay / secondary market but haven't. The $9.99 price is daunting and I may need to call it quits if the Royals appear on too many more cards. I was also wondering about getting a checklist on this site. As mentioned, it would be incomplete but maybe one could be placed and updated every 50 cards or so. I think it would be a lot easier to update it than wait until the end of the World Series.

Wow, I was just looking at some of the prices people are asking on ebay. I humored myself and started with the high prices. I say again, wow. Those prices are crazy. I'd like to know how many of those people actually get those top dollars. I bought 5 Verlanders from Topps just hoping to be able to sell 4 at $7.50 + shipping each, which would net me 1 card at no cost. I can always use them for trade too. All comes down to supply & demand. I still like the concept though, and I think it works well for Topps because now I see them adding 3 a day at times.

I don't think I will buy any, but I think it is a good idea. I am interested to see other people's experiences with them.

Part of me wishes that the cards had SNs on them. They already know this info at the time of printing and it probably wouldn't be too hard to add it to the card. I just feel like for $10 I would want something a little more than a standard looking card.
I've been keeping an Excel spreadsheet with the cards but I'm holding off on posting it until the set is complete or there is word from higher up.

I bought the first Cardinal, which was Jaime Garcia. Nice looking card on a heavy glossy stock. No foil. Took about three weeks to receive it. Shipped in a heavy cardboard mailer. I originally planned to get all the Cardinals, but they're just too expensive for me. There have already been four, I think. My brother bought one because he was at the game featured on the card, then he also bought the first Oakland card when they finally got one. Last I knew, there was still a team or two with no cards yet. I love the concept, but not the price. Would be nice if you could combine them. I dont think a person could buy one of each on a given day with the discount you would get for five of the same.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

There's been a couple I wish I could have got in on, just can't afford to right now, not at 10 bucks a pop.
I think it's a good idea, for sports. They started a set for the TV show Preacher that premiered this past Sunday night. 5 cards for $20. There will be 5 new cards after each show, and as with the baseball ones, made to order and only available for 24 hours. Kind of crazy for non-sports, as that is a set story not something that could be history making like in a ball game. Could get expensive real quick over the course of TV season.
I look for them to do this with The Walking Dead now that Topps has the rights to make cards for that show too. Not willing to support that foolishness.

I'm waiting for Topps Live Garbage Pail Kids. Check the tabloids every day, see who did something stupid, make a GPK of it. They're already emailing me all the time about GPKs of the election, but those are more than 24 hours. But there are probably people who would buy them. And for all we know, some executive at Topps might read our forums daily and see my terrible idea and have $$$ flash before their eyes.
