I recall trading pirate cards with a friend in 3rd-5th grade back in 1966-1968. I cannot locate such a set here on the database. Any other old codgers recall what I'm talking about?

I'm not as old a codger as you are looking for but I might be close. LOL. Anyway are you talking about something like this:

If not those, something very, very similar. I'm having a hard time remembering the name of the pirate I loved growing up. All I recall is that he "died of a fever" and that scared me at the time, but I could relate to the pirate because of that. I believe the pirate was French.

Jean Lafitte died of yellow fever during an epidemic in New Orleans.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

This whole time I thought this was a discussion about Pittsburgh Pirates. I went to baseball-reference and searched for Jean Lafitte and didn't understand why he wasn't there. I've since figured it all out.

When I posted the title to the thread I thought there would be someone who would mistaken it for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Now if I could be right about most things in life all would be better.

I believe I've found what I had inquired about back on my original post in January 2017; 1961 Fleer Pirates Bold cards. I don't see them anywhere on the database. Any ideas?

I was already in high school at the time and tried to switch from card collecting to girl collecting with no success. As you can see, I got back to cards......they don't talk back.
