I just saw a post on Sports Collectors Digest the Alan "Mr Mint" Rosen has passed away. anyone who got one of the trade magazines from back in the 80s and 90s and later will probably remember the full page ads he used to run and all the great "finds". i always enjoyed hearing about what he found or what people brought him before the days of the internet.

I'm sorry to hear of his passing. Over the years, I would see him at the big collectible shows in the midwest.

I got to meet him at a Philly show. I walked up to him just to say hi since he was the richest person I've met up to that time. He spoke but he looked at me like whatever. He was in conversation with another collector as I waited to speak.

I'm confused I thought Mr. Mint died last year or the year before? Maybe it was some other big name in the collector world. And NO I'm not confusing him with Bob Lemke who passed away a few weeks ago. Looks like 2017 is starting to do to the collector world what 2016 did to the Entertainment world.

Having lived in New Jersey all my life, there was never a shortage of Al Rosen sightings. I would see him in John Broggi's Highland Park store in the early 1980s before he started setting up at shows and creating his "Mr. Mint" personna.
It's not polite to speak ill of the dead, so I'll just say he was a character who certainly knew how to draw attention to himself.

Always remember seeing his ads showing up in the magazines in the 80's and 90's . Must have been cool to have the money to buy collections that people found. RIP

Trying to acquire one card for every for every set, insert, parralle, minor, euro, team issue, oddball etc sets produced for Hockey. Been an interesting project.
