As some of you
know, last year on
April 26th I came
about 5 minutes
short of dying. I
had only a 5%
survival rate as it
was, but I was able
to make a recovery-
It turns out I have
diabetes, and
didn't know it, and
it turned into
Ketoacidosis, where
my blood literally
turns into acid and
kills you from the
inside out. I
refused to go to
the doctor, and it
almost killed me. I
was in the hospital
from April 26th to
May 1st, I made a
recovery quicker
than they thought
possible. In that
time since, I've
had a great many
people say and do
nice things for me.
So I want to give a
little back. As
such, I've come up
with my "Glad to be
Alive Giveaway".
Here's how it
works: If you want
some free cards,
comment on this
thread stating if
you would want NBA
basketball, NASCAR,
other (non-sports
and Olympics, would
be Star Wars and
Desert Storm heavy)
or a combination of
all of the above.
Post by Midnight on
May 1st, and then
when I get on the
computer on May
2nd, I will use a
random number
generator to pick a
winner. Then after
you send me your
contact
information, I will
send you some
cards. Simple as
that. I celebrate
the fact that I've
survived every day,
time to let others
celebrate too!

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. Billy,
I was one of the ones who did NOT know that. Sorry to hear you went through all of that, but glad to see you're still here with us and in relatively good health now. I'm sure you'll have to closely monitor your food/drink intake, but I'm thinking that most people have to watch what they eat or do these days (especially as we get older).
Please don't include me in the random drawing, I don't want any cards, just wanted to say "Glad you're with us!"

I am always
interested in what
you are currently
posting and adding
to the site. I
posted a whole
bunch of basketball
Cards in honour of
you surviving your
health scare of
last year.
Diabetes is in my
family and in
workers at my
office, etc. We
need to eat more
raw foods and less
processed foods and
stay away from pop
and beer to help
avoid diabetes.

Nice idea Billy and a good reminder to all of us to treasure everyday! Normaly, I'd say throw my name in the hat, as you know I collect everything and anything! However, we are moving in about six weeks (we head east your way on June 9th), so I'll give all a slightly better shot at winning and sit this round out. I'll be watching to see who the lucky winner will be! Cheers, Brian

Billy, I'm another who wasn't aware of this situation last year. I only joined the site in December. Glad to hear Your improvement was speedier than anticipated. I will gladly throw my name into this celebration of life. Basketball or Olympics would appeal to me. Last September 5 I celebrated ten years survival after a heart attack, so I understand the joy you feel.
-------------------------------
I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Billy,
Wonderful you are still here. Was not aware of what you went through and I know it had to be hard. Shows how strong of a person you truly are. i am interested in football and hockey. It would be nice to get these cards but knowing you made it through some troubling times is the best gift of all. Keep it up and keep celebrating life.

Did not know it, but great story for all to learn from, Billy. Congratulations, and may we all keep on treasuring every day.
If this posting ends up being the random number generator's option, do me a favor and donate them to one of your local children's hospitals out in your part of NJ. I think we all remember the joy we had opening packs as kids and hopefully finding a card of someone we knew and liked inside. Take some envelopes, make packs of 5 or 10 or something, and give some kids that same experience as they go through stuff similar to your own experiences from last year.
Let's chat again next April!

Billy,
If you do what kents_stuff has suggested, let me know (since I'm so close). I have a bunch of stuff I could include in your charitable donation. Just send me a private message if you do something like that.

Glad that you survived your ordeal last year. I've been through two events that the doctors say I'm lucky to have survived, so I understand the thrill, as I celebrate twice a year. I collect a little bit of everything. Also keep up the good work on the site. I see you putting stuff on quite often and I know we all appreciate it.
