I am a Sports Card Broker so this may not count? Back in 2008, I had Client who lived in the UK and she had a very limited source to buy from, so she hired me to handle her buying. I have been doing this for about 12 years and always made my Clients happy, and well I was going to keep it that way. She was wanting a 1952 Topps Mantel, now she was already asking me for one of top three rarest cards in Baseball card history, she also wanted a PSA 8 or better! Well, I'm up for the ride so I excepted the task and started my search. After about 3 weeks I found a 9 at a Show in LA. The owner of the card was asking $90K so I called my Client and gave her the news and she said is that the best price? I told her being that I have been looking this long and this is the only PSA 9 I myself have seen in person that I was good with it but would see if I could get him down. Now you can find then rather easy on the Bay I have seen a PSA 10 for 250K+ but my Clients are not eBay Users. I offered 76.5 he told me 80 was the lowest I told her she said OK and so 80K is the most I have ever spent on a single card. I still have her as a client and we still talk about that and how much fun it was.....Take care all and God bless
I trade via Beckett only exceptions period. So if you wish to use eBay prices then please move on.
