Anybody ever go to the Canadian National show in Toronto?
My wife set us up to go this year. I get to spend a day at the show and she gets to go to Niagara Falls. I was wondering what to expect there as I have never been to a national show.

Well I guess I'm lucky enough to live in an area where card collecting is thriving. I go to a quaterly show in Philadelphia, PA or White Plains, NY and have met and gotten free autographs from Don Money. Bobby Schantz, and John Montefusco. The big names like Mike Schmidt, ect I would love to meet but I am never ever paying the outrageous price they charge for an auto, when it used to be as easy as writing the player at the stadium and receiving it back in the mail. The Greed of Selling autographs has ruined it for everyone. These two are big shows, with incredible deals and lots of dealers. (50+) PSA is usually there accepting submissions. I also have a local show at the smaller mall, not the big new mall, run by the guy from SGC. He will take subs and return them slabbed the next month as he runs the show, works for SGC, and is there every month. I also have two bid-board style auctions that end on the last weekend of every month, and cards from say, 1952 could be had for the min. bid of $2 if nobody eles bids on them. And there is also an antique mall close by that has, count them, 4 card shops inside. See where I am going? I have never bought off of Ebay, Amazon, Heritage or any Auction houses, I really don't need to!

Is that the Merchants Square Mall in Allentown per chance? I saw another thread, or was it this one, about the Philly Non-Sport Card Show and it mentioned the mall. Went to the mall site and saw all the differnet stores that were in there. My son is into more non-sport and soccer and I'm baseball so was thinking of making the 3.5 hour drive

I really need to get to the White Plains show some time. Unfortunately I usually find out about it when I see somebody posting a new purchase made there....too late then. The Philly Non-Sports Show in Allentown conflicts with my model club show where I am head photographer and also judge, so I never get to go in the fall...Spring show conflicts with the Rhinebeck car show, which I really can't give up. (at least I have a pretty good track record of finding cards there) Our show got delayed this year due to the hall hosting a wedding, so I MIGHT be able to get to the Philly show in October...but things like that have a way of falling apart for me, so I am not going to get my hopes up too much.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. I'd pee my pants to be able to go but has anyone ever tried to travel by plane in this country? UGH. Cheaper for me to fly to Mexico or Jamaica than it is to Toronto, you might think I am kidding but at times it could very well be true.
My guys from the city go all the time and bring back goodies for their customers, I got a couple sets of Toronto Maple Leafs players and some UD promo stuff. I always beg for them to take me but I am small potatoes in their garden of customers. LOL

The Toronto show is 4-6 May this year. Maybe you can change your trip to coincide.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.
