Wow, I wonder how many people here know who Rage is. Priest is well-known at this point and have to remember to to throw Maiden in there also. How Priest/Maiden remain out no one will ever know. For the record, discovered Rage during the Unity/Soundchaser albums.

I thought you were talking about Rage Against the Machine, so no. Yeah, there’s a lot of good bands that aren’t in the Hall.

Rage Against the Machine didn't even occur to me; didn't think it had been 25 years yet. So I went it looked, 2017 was their 25 year mark of their first album release. Iwas thinking of the band Rage out of Germany. They've been around since the early 80s and have a huge following across the world.

Sorry, I did mean Rage Against The Machine. They were apparently on the ballot this year.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Nothing to apologize for, it's me that went the wrong way with that. Normally, when Rage is mentioned RATM is what is being referred. I just happen to be a bigger fan of that other band and play a similar style to Priest. But still absolutely no excuses for leaving Maiden and Priest out

I thought RATM too. As much as I still love their music, I just don't think they should be in the HOF. They weren't around long enough and didn't make many albums together. That's really due to Zach though. The rest of the band stayed together and teamed up with Chris Cornell to make Audioslave. But that didn't last long either (2 albums?) and Cornell went back to Soundgarden. I do think Soundgarden should get in eventually. I can't believe Iron Maiden isn't in yet! Nine Inch Nails (or at least Trent Reznor) and Tool (or at least Maynard James Keenan) should also be in the Hall.

While NIN, RATM, and the ilk probably deserve to go into the Hall, much like the baseball HOF I'm not too concerned if they go in on their first ballot. Which I think most are elgible now, or if not, very close to it.
As for other genres getting in, I think of music as a form of entertainment and really doesn't bother me if acts not considered "ROCK" make it in. More aptly it should be called the Music Hall of Fame, but oh well. There are so many genres of rock anymore its tough to accurately define it anyways. I'm sure some consider bands like POD and Korn inelgible since they are rapcore more than rock and the arguements continue. Just think if Elvis songs came out now, at best they would be pop, not rock, so its tough to exclude acts imo. Having said all that, I can't believe all the hate over The Cars on this website. FOR SHAME! Though I do agree Judas Priest needs to go in.
Getting back into baseball talk though, I think Yadi and Posey both go in, and if they are first ballot on not depend on who else is on the ballot. If they are the best of the nominees those years, I find it hard they wouldn't go in. Maybe by the time they make it in I can make a trip to visit the Hall. I really wanted to when Maddux went in.
I wonder if one day the baseball hall will have a music wing for guys who also make music. That could be an interesting special attraction. Bernie Williams and Darryl Kile come to mind, I know there are others too.

The fact that King Crimson is not inthe HOF is downright criminal.

I always thought of King Crimson as a 4th Ballot HOFer.

Korn should get in eventually, IMO! They were right there in the mix of hard rock in the early through late-90's. They changed with the music of the periods to enter rapcore, but started as hard rock (or alternative rock). There were so many names in the 90's for different sounds of the same thing that it was hard to keep up. Hair metal and speed metal were fading away, heavy metal was kinda all over the place, grunge and industrial rock were really popular, rap-rock was just getting started (mostly from those that grew up on the Beastie Boys, who are HOF'ers and deserved it), and everything blurred together during that decade. Even bands that should have been considered pop, country or gospel started getting blended into the rock category. I don't agree with everyone that's been inducted into the RnR HOF, but if it was called the "Music Hall of Fame" I would agree with almost everyone that's in there now. One sticking point to me is N.W.A, getting voted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! I loved NWA and the still loved the music after they split up and went solo, but nothing about any of them was Rock and Roll. That's when I knew it wasn't about the type of music anymore. It seems like the only thing omitted from the RnR HOF now is straight country music b/c they have their own HOF. I'll laugh when they finally induct a country-rapper like Colt Ford, Bubba Sparxxx or the Moonshine Bandits!
