He also covered a NIN song, Hurt. A lot of artists are in there I approve of, The Who, Chuck Berry, Elvis, Jimi Hendrix, CCR, David Bowie, Pink Floyd, and tons more. Also, Cash is in the Hall already.

Yeah, I saw that before it was pointed out to me. I had just forgotten.
The thing with Cash's entry, and a few others from that early era is that rock was being formulated as a genre distinct from anything else. The 50s brought with it a sound that branched out and seeped into various artists' creativity that led to experimentation not only with instruments, but also with the engineering in recording and with freedom of speech.
On a side note, I wish there were more non-sport cards and collectors that focused on music over the years. There are a few, and those few that interest me have made it to my Want List. Music is as much a part of our culture as is sport.
In my office I have part of a wall that gives tribute to some favorite musical performers like Bob Dylan, U2, Cat Stevens, the aforementioned (in a previous post) The Call, and another little-known artist Mark Heard. Soon to come, Johnny Cash, Jars of Clay, and Switchfoot. But since there aren't enough cards I create my own posters.

My dad’s basement is full of Elvis and The Who signs and posters, not to mention the countless CD’s and vinyl albums.

I would love more music card sets. I know they make country ones on occasion and sets for bands like Kiss, Beach Boys, and Elvis, but having sets for a lot of other bands would be great. I think a good start would be Rock & Roll Hall of Fame cards.
Also want to say how awesome it would be to see Switchfoot on a trading card. I've been a fan since probably 2000. I haven't listened to Jars of Clay in many years, but that would be nice too. I think having a Christian Music trading card set would be a lot of fun, especially showcasing some bands not around anymore (oh, a Degarmo & Key card would make my day). I'm sure some would say its too niche, but hey they made Justin Beiber cards so there has to be a market for anything.

Wow! Jupiterhill? We are connected at the heart! AND I am not talking Switchfoot. Dana Key is one of my all-time favorite guitarists! I saw him in concert here in Houston around 1979 or 1980 and have a ton of slides I took of him. Because he was in the early Christian music scene he didn't get the public acclaim that he could have gotten, but he was a great rock guitarist and excellent singer. I was sad to hear of his passing several years ago of a brain aneurysm.
Anytime you wish to talk music with me, especially anything from D&K's era I'm ALL ears.

So how does a forum about this year`s possible entries into the Baseball Hall of Fame end up being about musicians and music?

I'm gonna blame v3. He needs votes for Scapegoat of the Year.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Whew, I thought I would get blamed for that since I started that thread about the Rock Hall.

I accept full responsibility, even though I'm totally not responsible. If it'll help end this endless thread and maybe get me votes for Scapegoat of the Year, I'm all in. I'll never get mentioned in the awards here, otherwise. I mean, maybe eventually, if I stay here long enough, I'll make the TCDB HOF as an "accumulator," but who wants to be Bert Blyleven?

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.
