Oh, I grew up watching re-rnus of the Original Series and still remember the night Encounter at Farpoint aired. Watched through DS9 and all the movies, but Voyager never really caught my fancy and haven't seen any the newest movies. I read the books for ages and everything. Much like SW it alll fell by the wayside when they deciced to retcon a whole bunch of stuff.

I always seem to have a story. This is no exception. Anyway...
Back in 1987-88, I was in my first year of college, and living in the dorms on an "honors" floor (just meant that we promised to be quiet during certain hours - turns out we were all very quiet during most hours). In my second semester there (so this had to be 1988), my roommate had a TV (I wound up getting a VCR and we became VERY popular). So, one Saturday night, I get out of the shower (as I was preparing to go on a date) and I walk into my room, and there are 5 or 6 guys sitting around watching Star Trek (whatever show was new in 1988). So, 6 guys watching Star Trek in a dorm room, while I was getting ready to go out on a date.
I never did watch any Star Trek episodes (of any series) that year or ever. :)

How did we get from Admin being immortal to Star Trek?

I can't say for sure but it may be because everyone hopes the Admin lives long and prospers.
I've seen like maybe 3 episodes of Star Trek and only parts of them. They were TNG, but I do remember trying to watch the one with Scott Bakula, was that DS9? I never got into it, but then again it took me over 30 years to watch the original Star Wars trilogy, so I hope space isn't my final frontier.

The Bakula one was Enterprise in the 2000's and the last series to air on TV. Although there is a new series currently (Discovery) but only the 1st episode was on TV. The rest of the episodes are airing on CBS All Access. DS9 was mid to late 90's. TNG was 87-94, so there's your answer Dan. Voyager was late 90's, but I never got into that one.
I didn't get to see any of the Original Series episodes until BBC America started airing them to celebrate the 50th anniversary! I've seen all of those now and I own all of the TNG episodes. I've seen all of the Star Trek movies and own them, except for some of the original ones.

Loved the show, Netflix has the DVDs so I got to watch the whole series a couple of years ago.

I knew someone would come up with it. I grew up near a small Saskatchewan prairie town and went to school there. The rivalries between the towns are real, be it in school sports or anything else.
