There are about a dozen or so of us that seem to be "regulars" in helping Admin out with the inacurracy reports in the Inaccuracies Manager. As one of them, I try to help with as many as I possibly can. There are currently more than 175 in the queue and unfortunately, there are several that I continue to pass by simply because the info provided is not enough for me to understand what needs to be done to properly resolve the issue. Considering how long they have been sitting there, it appears I'm not alone.

Please be specific. For example, if the site is missing a card, please indicate that card #xx of name on team needs to be added to this set. Let us know if you own the card or have seen it online (if you have seen it online, include the URL of where you saw it, minus the "http://"). This will help expedite the research.

If one (or both) of the scans do not meet the site's requirments, please tell us which one (or both). "Bad image" is not really enough for us.

For missing sets, a URL to where a checklist may be seen or including the checklist in the report is also helpful.

I would like to highlight a couple examples of reports that are well-written.

• "Last name listed as "Johstone" is misspelled. His last name is Johnston."
• "This is a serial numbered card out of 900"
• "The team is Texas Rangers."

We really want to help, and I would love to see the Inaccuracies Mgr down to only ones Admin can handle (and that is becoming less and less - Admin is giving the Level 8s a little more responsibility). Help us help you help the site. :) And as always, thank you for submitting these requests to make the site better. Every single one is important and treated as such.

I have trying to help out I reported 3 things so far 2 was crooked pictures and 1 was about the set I have :)

If you have an unresolved Inaccuracy Report, please read carefully.

I have been almost living in the Inaccuracy Reports (IR) area. There are currently about 150 items. This is only slightly better than when I first started this thread. That was more than 2 months ago. There are still a few from before my initial post!

Here's the deal, several of these are still very unclear on what needs to be done to fix whatever error it is you see. I have been "resolving" some with the note "Resolving to find out more information:" and asking the original submitter questions about their submission. If you get one of these, please understand - I don't know who submitted it (unless you put your user ID in the submission) - so I am working blindly.

I am making this a personal goal to reduce this to only items that need Admin's access to resolve within the next couple weeks. I need your help to do so.

The people who are resolving stuff with me - you're a huge help. Keep doing what you are doing. As of this very moment, there are no items from today still left in the queue. We're cleaning them out as fast as they come in - this is where I would love to see this list get to. IIRC, we had it down to about 1 page (50 items), but then it ballooned again, and it hasn't been under 3 pages (150) for months.

Anyway, here's how you're going to help. If you have a submission in that has not been resolved yet - expect it to be "resolved" soon - but please read the e-mail (it'll show who it's from). I will be asking for more details, but I'll be specific in the details I'm asking for.

A couple of generic requests:
If you have requested a card (or multiple cards) to be added to a set, we need card number, name, team (if a team sport), and if it's a variation how it differs for the card of the same number that already exists in the checklist. Most of the "Add Card" requests that are still sitting there lack this basic info.
If you have requested a set to be added, it most likely hasn't been added because we cannot verify its existence or cannot procure a proper checklist. I have already reached out to many members seeking more info about several of these requests. Please include this info when submitting the request to add a set. The comments box can hold a lot of info! :)

Additionally, when I'm reading the requests and I see "I don't know but..." or "I think this is...", it makes me wonder if you truly understand the change that you're requesting. If the card doesn't exist and it needs to be deleted, state that. Don't say "I think this card doesn't exist, maybe we should delete it". That doesn't sound very confident in the request. If you're not sure, most likely, neither are we, and we'll leave it. If you're sure about a change that needs to be made, tell us.

Again, we need this info to help us be able to help you. I know 95% of the requests affect an item that you personally own. I treat each one that way. I understand, I submit many of my own (and have submitted many over the years). Together, we'll get this list to "maintenance mode", just like we have done for other areas of this site. Get ready for some e-mails. :)

I know I'm a huge contributor to the IRs recently as I try to get my sticker collection added. The Fleer Stickers are greatly misunderstood, rarely have I started entering a set that went smoothly [that's if I even found the set, Thanks to Corky and Chad for helping out by adding CLs], so many stickers not entered base and variations.

I wish I could help more, but unfortunately, I'm just starting to add pts. to reach the upper levels. I really can't do much more than file the IRs and wait. It's ironic that I have all these stickers that I report to scan and edit.

Ditto to everything you said Dan! I was in there last night fixing some myself. But so many are just confusing as to what the request actually is about. I fixed several and then got frustrated with the lack of info. So I moved over to verifying Racing sets. I knocked that massive list (over 6K sets) down by 2 pages before I had to stop for the night.

NOTE: I don't mess with the IR's for hockey, golf, tennis, soccer or MMA at all b/c that's not really where my knowledge lies. I try to fix anything else though.

Yes, that was my main concern with the majority of the items remaining, is that they are very confusing. I have reached out to one member in particular whom I know is responsible for some of them, and hope that they understand that I'm not being mean or picky, but that we want to help them get their requests resolved. We're making great progress, and I was very happy to see how well things went while I was away for a week and half.

I hear you about getting frustrated and walking away after a while. I've been finding myself doing that with the IR and I get frustrated at myself for not being able to continue. That's why I couldn't hold back any longer, I had to post about the most common issues I see, simply as a means of educating (I use that word a lot, but I truly mean it) others as to how to best write these so that we know what to do.

I just want to add one more thing. I don't know if there is a limit to the amount you can write in a report. Basically, there's no need to write in shorthand - explain what you want/need done. Worst one is "card doesn't exist". Does it not exist in our checklist? Is in the checklist but was never printed? If you look back at what you wrote, and there can be questions asked, you didn't write enough. I will literally write "This card does not exist. Please delete this card from the checklist." This leaves NO question as to what I want done. When I see requests like this, they get taken care of immediately.

I too have seen some that I can't figure out. I try to tackle all NBA, NASCAR and Non-Sports, but there are some things I just don't know, and don't want to make anything worse.

If I see one where the report is scan has part cropped off, I will do them too, especially when I pull it up and see letters half missing. That's an easy fix that doesn't require much knowledge of the subject- just working eyes.

Hopefully in the spirit of this topic, I want to mention something.  I haven't been here very long, but one of the first issues I tackled was getting good scans of hologram cards in the non sport world.  I asked questions and then developed my own technique.  Anyway, in the course of uploading some cards, I came across a card on the site that had a clear picture, but there was no color captured.  Having the same card, I was able to get a scan that showed the two characters involved in color, as well as the company and text on the card.  Essentially the existing scan would be like a black and white image, but I now have a color image.  And I forget how I reported it, but I mentioned all this and said I guess it is up to the site to determine if a color hologram scan is a worthwhile improvement over a colorless scan, and I never got any notification if anyone read this, decided the 'black and white' scan was good enough, or wanted to see my scan to decide if it was an improvement or not.  Or maybe I did something wrong and nobody even saw what I wrote.  I think I read that to replace a scan, it would have to be a noticeable upgrade, and the original is a nice scan detailwise, but I kinda felt that if the characters were in color that would be a worthwhile upgrade.

Anyway, as I said I'm not sure if what I reported falls under inaccuracies or not, but the spirit of the post is writing clearer help requests and helpng to fix the database, and this was one thing that I thought I may be providing an improvement upon but perhaps didn't write/post correctly, so I thought to mention it here.

If someone wants to know the card in question and see my scan, feel free to inquire.  I don't want to bog this post down with a specific incident any further than I have unless it is welcomed.
