Something seems to have changed in the search function. Previously, I could have entered last name, first name and found the player I was looking for. For example, I could have entered Victorino, Shane and gotten Shane Victorino. Now I get not found.

Agreed - I typically search a set by putting a year and set name like (for hockey) "2008 black diamond" which use to find the black diamond upper deck set, and now finds no results.

Looks like they tweaked the search function. I search by sets and inserts or parallels and have to use a dash with correct spacing now for a search.

It looks like they're coming back as google search results now, which I don't like. It worked just fine the old way.

And the new search results don't play nice on a mobile browser. You know the old saying, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

I've had that issue with player searches but found if I hit search again it gives me what I was looking for.

i noticed that last night (not sure if its an admin boo-boo or permanent thing)..but a good work around, especially if its a team or player thats your personnal collection is to add it to a favorite so the link for that is in your profile. 

Also noticed that when I was doing searches I didn't see a differentiator anymore. Used to be "Bob Smith (born 1975)" and "Bob Smith (born 1982)"  

Now I just get "Bob Smith" and "Bob Smith" (or at least I did the last time I did a search about three days ago).

I never used this function so I just tried it.   I keyed in Yogi Berra.  Got one match whch I was able to click on and got all of his cards on TCDB.    Below that, below a separate line, I got hundreds of Google matches.  Hope that helps.

The old search function was causing the site to get bogged down or crash after 36 hours of uptime or if too many people searched at the same time (whichever came first).

Still working out the kinks on the new function.  One advantage of the new search is that whenever new sets or names get added, they will be immediately available in the search results.  The old system relied on indexing, so new additions could take up to a week to show up.

Searching last name first should work now, searching with a year and partial set name like “2008 Black Diamond” should work now, and the differentiation field in names should be showing up also.

If you notice any other quirks, please post the details with specific examples in this thread.
