I agree with you sportzcommish.
Kind of like a dating site where you check the boxes next to what you are interested in, (friendship, love, no strings attached, etc). Just make some check boxes, trading, buying, selling. Doesn't have to be mandatory. Also, maybe the match lists could be filtered based on certain criteria, like when you are searching for something on eBay and only want to see listings with free shipping for example. Filters could be, selling/trading preference, last active date, #of matches, etc.

- My Definition of "Complete Set": Pretty much everything that fits in a binder, from the box the cards came in to the very last insert and parallel. 1 of 1 AUs and Sketch cards are just bonus to me.

Yeah, I don't know if mandatory is necessary, but certainly when signing up it can give people the option to set up their account to best serve their needs.
This would stop what I just ran into with Recent Matches. I get something to match my Want List. I go to the member's page and click "Propose a Trade", but when it comes to actually picking cards it says, "This member's list is private." The member has traded before, and obviously has chosen to not make his lists viewable, but at some point today we made a match, but I can't pursue it. The reform I wish to make would not give me that match if he's not available to trade.

I like the idea. I have a trade list, but it isn't accurate because I got rid of a LOT of cards recently. I just haven't taken the time yet to ask Admin to delete my collection, so I would probably show up as a match for some people. Which might be more than I could say on a dating app like mentioned above...

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I see no reason to post my thoughts on this entire thread, but I feel I do need to post something here.
My thought process for this site since I joined here (and on Beckett for 15 years now) has been: Let them come to me! I rarely ever propose trades. I let the traders come to me and then I make trades. It has worked to the tune of about 500 trades b/t the 2 sites since I started making online trades.
Patience is a virtue in online trading. The big kicker is when you post a trading thread on a site like this one. A flood of trade offers comes in from anyone reading the threads. Then you know you have active traders. My recent thread about looking for vintage Cardinals MLB cards was a huge success on here and also on Beckett. I posted different threads on both sites, but with the same general idea. I completed 3 of 4 goals within a few days of posting both threads. I am still missing a 1971 Lou Brock card, but I got all the rest and even added a 1968 card that wasn't in my list.
Instead of LOOKING for trades, bring the traders to you! JMO and suggestion because it has worked so well for me. I can guarantee that less than 10% of the trades that I've made were initiated by me!

That's certainly a purpose for this site. I like that your personal note states your purpose, too. I'm wondering, though, if you use a Want List to track those cards you find on the database before adding them to your alternate storage system at home?

I've officially proposed these changes to Admin today. I also included adding a "Country of Residence" identifier to assist in trading, buying, or selling. I figure that would be helpful so that we don't spend time drawing up a large deal only to have to whittle it down considerably to make postage cheaper for PWE deals.
