You're locking down wrong information that is now very hard to fix and requires those of us working to correct it to jump through hoops and take days to fix something I could have knocked out in under 5 minutes. Correcting something before, what would have taken 3 clicks. Now it takes at least 20, just to fix one simple error. And there's DOZENS of them.
I've discovered dozens of errors in the 2016 Certified set checklists alone, some on my own accord looking through galleries, and more have been brought to my attention via the IRs, when it was pointed out earlier today that the checklist doesn't match the actual card scan, which has been posted.
I knew this locking down stuff would be a problem, and sadly I was right. Please stop making extra work for those of us who care about doing it right.
Thanks.

And may I add, please don't lock any set until you've thoroughly reviewed it (that is applicable to all categories, not just NASCAR/Racing). And I don't mean "Yeah, it looks good." I mean, you know that set inside and out, and if someone was to wlak up to you 2 weeks from now and ask you a question about it, you KNOW the answer. That's who should be locking these sets down.

I'm not at Level 8 yet, hence the asking of this question, but is there some sort of review for locking sets down? Or is it just one person hitting one button?
If there's no check system, perhaps we Admin could implement something to make it a check, like the IR report. A proposal to lock, a second, and a third. It would take members working together, but it would at least provide a safety net.
But again, I'm not sure how it works at all, as I'm not yet to that level.

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

I like the function of being able to lock the sets. For products that I am the expert on, I want ot be able to get them into shape and lock them so that nobody can come in after and mess them up. However, it appears that the system is being abused, so I am all for instituting a propose, verify & approve system for set locking.

Maybe for a base set, but most parallel sets could be confirmed without having all of the scans. I'm thinking specifically of sets like Press Plates and Solo cards, if we had to have all of the scans they would never be able to be locked.

I agree with set locking being verified by more than one person. I don't agree that a complete gallery be present to lock sets though. I also have to say that locking 2016 Certified was not me b/c I haven't done much of anything with that release. I barely have any cards from that set and didn't add any of the CL's. So all I've done with that one was add scans of cards I do own.
I locked all of the 2018 Victory Lane sets that I know are completely accurate in the way I added the CL's, but I left all of the MEM and AU sets unlocked b/c the numbers might not be entirely accurate. I know there is a chance that some of the card "numbers" are not right, so I left them open in case info pops up about them. I have not locked any racing sets in at least a month though.
I am ALSO tired of people locking sets that aren't fully done yet! Dan (vrooomed) and I had this conversation recently b/c someone had locked a set (I believe it was 2008 Stadium Club MLB) and it turned out that the parallel set was missing all info about VAR cards. He was asking me about the difference b/t the scan I uploaded and the scan for another version of the same card. Turns out that the first scan added was the wrong one and was the same VAR card that I had uploaded. Since the set was locked, I couldn't add the notes describing the differences, even though the base set had all of the Note1 and Note2 listed completely and accurately. I believe that set is where it originated that we need to be able to unlock sets and Admin agreed to make it an option.

I'm surprised that locking a set does not show up in the change log. Being able to easily identify the responsible person(s) might help reduce these problems.
