I'm sure you are thinking "Why is ~Bob~ starting this thread?" Well you are wrong! I thought it would be a good idea to have an area to "stash" stuff. I KNOW, alot of you don't want to see TCDB become a "collectorama", however many of our members have some related interests, so maybe that PRIVATE AREA, not bothering anyother member might be a good idea. I know I would use it to keep my collections in order.
~BOB~

I like you, Bob. Good comments, nice collection. Loyal father. But I have virtually no idea what you're talking about. Isn't that already available? Can't you just set your settings so your collection isn't visible to others? So wouldn't that be...private? I'm confused. But I didn't sleep much last night...

Are you referring more to things like game programs, bobbleheads, figures, etc.?
Personally wouldn't bother me but don't know that Admin would go for it. I'm not sure how much work is involved with setting something like that up.

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

My suggestion for those who wish to catalog items that do not get catalogued here:
Set up your own database website
or
Set up your own private database (using Access or something similar)
If you don't know how, learn.

I agree. I think we've basically pushed the border a bit already with tracking pins and discs and venturing into anything outside the bounds of trading cards is not what I would see this site's purpose to be.
As a retired school administrator, I do love the implied lifetime learner message, Dan, "If you don't know how, learn." I don't know if Google apps include a "clone" for Access, but surely Sheets would function well for cataloguing - which I use as a backup to here. I mention that since Microsoft now requires an annual subscription to keep up with their product, although using their master CD would still work, if your computer has a CD player, which mine doesn't.

Bob already has a private area....his website..
Some folks have blogs, as well..one being hobby related, and one for other subjects
forum posts here talking about things just added to his own site are ok for the forums as well if in correct forum

Isn't that the "off-topic" forum?

v3 - Please explain where and how you make your collection PRIVATE.
Everybody else, I'm not stupid and I do know how to spell. I also know how to use Excel, Word, Docs etc. My point was to have everything in the same place. My website is not for cataloging my collection but for buy/sell/trade exposure. Convenience, I believe.

I think that may have been aimed at my last line about "If you don't know how, learn." which was definitely not a dig or an implication of lack of intelligence. *I* do not know how to set up a web-based database like we have here. If I was to create a website like this, I would need to learn how to do that.
Bob, please accept my apology. I wasn't implying you are stupid. So if it came across that way, I'm REALLY very sorry. That was certainly not my intention and certainly not my opinion about you. I hope you knew that all along.
