Typically we do not see a card with two variations, where none of them are considered a "base" card. If any of the mini cards match the base, they should be first. Otherwise, I don't think there is a specific policy as to which variation goes first. Atlhough typically it's been in order of rarity, with the least rare going first

Well, getting a bit confusing now.
Error Cards are listed 1st followed by the corrected version[s]. Makes sense, Most agree. EXCEPT our guidelines.
Variation Cards are listed in whatever order they are entered by members? Coincidentally in most cases they match other sites order. So the original post was asking , "How to order VARIATIONS? and I'm not sure there was agreement or even an answer, nor anything in the guidelines that explains it.
So what's the answer before somebody screws up!

If the common course of action has been to follow suit, have at it. Like was said its not really a rule here, if nobody gives you a direct answer, a good ol' email to Admin is the way to go. You might make an everlasting change to the site. =)

When adding the variations to the Heritage sets, I added them with color swaps first, since they look almost like the base card, then moved onto the next one.
See 2017 Heritage. 460 Madison Bumgarner. He has a Color Swap, Error Variation and an Action Image.
Just my thinking, when a image on the card is moving away from it's original image (into the variations) number, like 460 - that the more it changes the lower it should be in the 460a, 460b, 460c, etc.
Too many words describing a simple thought. Sorry for that. lol

I agree with this rationale.

Kari I am buying pre-1987 Non Sports. Let's discuss if you have any for sale, even if not listed here. --------------------------------------- There are no bad days.

That is exactly how I would see it. Closest version to the base card, then next, then next. Take a 2011 Topps baseball variation. You could have base image, sparkle (which is the same as the base image but with a "sparkle" somewhere on the photo), an image variation (still the same player, different picture), and a legend variation (totally different card, with just the card number being the same). That's the order that I would personally list them.
Glad to hear I'm not alone in my personal preference!

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I think it does, specifically if the set is a parallel. I think what karsal shotime and jasongerman9 are saying makes sense. For a parallel set, the first one listed should be the parallel. Any other VARs to follow.

In the long run, more than likely not. I felt like that it made easier navigation for the set, when I did it.

Right Cory. That's one of those thing I figure the one who adds the checklist gets to decide. Which sounds like it was you, in this case.
