Sorry if this has been covered, I tried to search but among the many results I suppose it was hard for me (clearly) to even come up with a proper thread title to clue people into to what it’s about.
Let’s say a member has 5 cards I need on their for sale list and I want to make an offer to purchase them as I have none of their needs. If I select “propose a purchase” or whatever at the transaction start, I still get the two options to add items to the deal by text or by “selecting” but using “select items” does not allow me to match my needs with their FS list like it does if I just propose a straight up trade. I have to manually weed through every card they have marked as FS/FT. Is there a reason for this or has it been proposed? Is it a bad idea to go around this system and just propose a trade and type in a $ offer text on my side instead of proposing a “sale”? Just curious and hope my question makes sense. If making multiple offers it’s nice to have the system move all the cards around for me without having to renter things when cards arrive.
Thanks

Add those 5 cards to your wantlist, if you haven't already. I wasn't clear on whether you have. Even if you don't intend to create or maintain a wantlist, for the sake of this argument, add those five cards to your wantlist, be sure to select Match Lists in the 2nd or 3rd drop menu, and the transaction feature should work better for you.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I don't recall reading anything about this either. Agreed, it is a pain that it does not match lists. Because of this I believe many sales end up being shown as completed trades. My purchases and sales are.
The text method is too time consuming to update later, and rooting through inventory is a total waste of time. If it hasn't already been suggested to New Features, I will. I'll check.

Kari I am buying pre-1987 Non Sports. Let's discuss if you have any for sale, even if not listed here. --------------------------------------- There are no bad days.

I never use the "Buy something". I always use "Trade" and just type in a dollar amount on my side of the trade.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

Yeah that’s what I was trying to explain. They are on my want list but if I initiate the deal as a “purchase” instead of a trade, Match Lists is not an option you can select at all

Thanks, I kind of figured that’s what most people do just wasn’t sure if I was breaching some sort of etiquette if I go that route. Over time it could cause some potential missed deals for people (potential buyer gets frustrated, someone see a trade offer but they only want to sell so they ignore the message, etc) maybe. I guess the question is why even have make an offer to purchase an option then lol

Ok, I guess I've never made an offer to buy, so I didn't know about that.

The trade route is how I've both purchased and sold some cards on TCDB for the very reason you just mentioned.

I have used the trade route, added a single card (outgoing) to make it work, add a message with an explaination regarding details to buy rather than it being a lopsided trade for the one card.
