Is there a way to save all the data from your collection to some other type of device. I have a lot of data on my collection info and would hate to lose it.

in the traditional way that you're probably wanting to do.. that would be NO., no way to export-- however, you can PRINT your collection to pdf and save or if you're excel savy, you can hightlight your collection and paste into excel, then remove/groom the columns along with using the Data tab then "text to columns" to manipulate some name and notes run ons. It just takes a little a time.
either way, you won't be able to import as a whole

Using google docs is another way. Much better than excel for access wherever.

The lack of an export feature is this site's greatest flaw.

And yet, it is the site's best strategy. Allowing anyone to copy the contents from this site en masse would be suicidal to the web site. What would be the draw here? enter all your collection info, export it, and abandon the site. Worse, export the checklists and do your own thing with it on your computer (or even worse yet, vcreate a new website with the info).
It's actually a brilliant move by the powers-that-be to keep the site a place where people visit, weekly, daily, hourly. I know there have been several direct requests to Admin to add some sort of feature like that, and it falls on deaf ears. One of the VERY rare requests that get brushed off. I urge anyone who wishes to have an export feature to look at things from the perspective of the one who owns/runs the site. Would you allow everyone/anyone to copy your data?

-- Dan -- Note: Please see my profile for more info regarding trading (section updated 3/4/2024). I have added a large portion of my inventory to the site, and currently have trading turned on (details are in my profile).

It's all fine until the site goes belly-up and everyone loses all their collection information that has been painstakingly entered.

thats the exact reason why i keep excel checklists along with tracking my collection here... little bit more time consuming to double enter cards ( i actually 3x it, i maintain database using the old Card Collector program ) but i find it to be a good checks and balances system when comes to trading... 99.9 % of time my inventory is corrrect on all 3, and if there is a mistake on any of them, its quick to find and fix... so worst case scenario if something happens here, i dont have to worry about being dead in the water...

I agree with Dan on thios as much as I'd like to see a way to back up stuff. His answer does also shed some light on something I asked him to look into many moons ago about a defunct program I so loved. Just kidding Dan.

Always looking for Blackhawk hockey, Notre Dame Football, White Sox and Bears Stuff. I have a plaque in my card room that says, "I could have been a millionaire but my mom threw out my baseball cards". How apropos!!! Collecting Chicago Blackhawks Hockey, Doug Wilson Hockey, Chicago Bears Older, Notre Dame Football in their college jerseys and Chicago White Sox.
