With all my rooms of cards, I don't seem to be much help but Forum Poster. lol. I use the site extensively, continually adding my collection, HOWEVER......
1. I can't get past L6, so my hands are tied with L7 or L8 help.
2. I've tried adding CLs, sets, cards, etc. but everytime I do, somebody has an issue. I'll try but if it brings up an IR what's the use......double work.
3. I have successfully cropped bad scans, my 1 "helping hand" so far.
4. My Feature Tracker suggestions are overlooked, and ones I like are at the bottom of the priorities.
5. I have, I guess, consulted on some site improvements for what it's worth. ???
Great site, so I'll just parasitize everybody elses great contributions.!

Bob, I add one card per day since I've been on here (Sept. 2012). I only have 8,576 points. The key is to be patient. Everything comes in due time.

I have a grand total of 6 points but 380 completed trades..I guess I'm missing the point on this whole points thing..And am still considered a "Rookie" on the site so..

I try to spend a bit each day working on Team Validation or Name Validation. When I get tired of those I work on Missing DOB's. There are many things to do that aren't connected to adding scans of cards or packages, adding checklists, or anything at the L7 or L8 level. As a matter of fact I find it more helpful working on these things because I don't care about points, and those that do can knock themselves out adding scans and checklists (as long as they are correct and done properly). Sometimes I will work on checklists but anymore stick to the non-sports ones because I just use the text import and don't want to make more work for others.
Beyond all that, I think its good we have members who are regular posters. Even if you can't help in other ways, having an active forum shows new or potential new members that the site is active and they should sign up and join in on the conversations. While sometimes you have different views than other members, its also good to hear those views because it lets people see other points of view and understand the mind of other collectors. So in short, just keep doing what your doing!

I do not own a scanner and I collect only one team, the Reds. I cannot help much with scans or checklists. Nor do I trade as I have nothing to offer in return. So I decided to help fill in the holes. Using baseball reference sites, I went through baseball minor league sets, adding missing names, DOB's and other bio information. If I was not sure, I left it alone. Now I am working on minor league Hockey sets. I know very little about hockey. However, bio information is available from several hockey sites. I thoroughly enjoy this although it can be tedious at times.

Back in the olden days I added a buncha scans and checklists especially in soccer and hockey as I was one of the few active in those areas. That allowed me to reach L8. Then this thing called life happened and I had to take a break fer awhile. Since becoming more active again, I deleted my collection and now am re-entering it as time permits. The only time I add a scan now is when I come across a card that I am adding to my collection and the scan is not present. As some of the other fellers pointed out I also do some validations and DOBs.
Bottom line help out as you can, it's all valuable.

You could probably get a million points just correcting Panini Football from 17-19 if you get points for creating links to cards with multiple players on them. Also team links etc.I don't know if you get points for those 2 things and i'm not really into points I just want my PC to be as accurate as possible. I found 30 Anthony Miller cards today that don't populae on the list when you pull up his name because he shares the card with someone else. PANINI DOES SUCK!!!!!!

Always looking for Blackhawk hockey, Notre Dame Football, White Sox and Bears Stuff. I have a plaque in my card room that says, "I could have been a millionaire but my mom threw out my baseball cards". How apropos!!! Collecting Chicago Blackhawks Hockey, Doug Wilson Hockey, Chicago Bears Older, Notre Dame Football in their college jerseys and Chicago White Sox.

You could enter the Wikipedia links and the (whatever)-reference.com link for people. Each external link is a point, and there are a ton of people who do not have links yet. Each athlete has wiki and a reference page, for non-sports people you may only have one link, but you could put a link to their imdb profile if they are movie/tv people.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. Cardboard History My COMC New Collection Website: Cardboard History Gallery (Still under construction) Tips on how to make your scans look like the card does in hand (No more washed out, fuzzy scans!):

Where do you add these links? I'm not seeing it on any of the few players I just checked.

On a player's page scroll down to External Links.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.
