Well, all good replies.
>I'm not throwing all the blame on the TM, member input has to rank high on the list as well.
>Trading turned off, had to do it, offers were "off-the-wall" and I can't say no. Then I'm backed up again. Until my system, collection and traders are caught up, I'll probably toggle "trading" off and on". ...need to maintain sanity!
>Update my collection and inventory, NO CHANCE ! My 4 Cardrooms would set me back another 5 years, now reorganizing that's different, gives me a handle where the cards are, not if I have them. Still a work in progress after going on 5 years.
Heck, it's taken ALL summer to trade/sell my Hockey cards, and only a fraction of my Basketball. I still have a large priority box of Hockey ready to trade/sell to somebody. Basketball, so far, I've traded off certain teams and players....but a long way to go. I'm working on large box#1 to trade/sell.

Howdy,
What's working for me. This method allows me to get back to trading. It also means that I can complete a trade much quicker, no excuses. Here we go:
1. Member responds to a post of mine that details cards I have available, preferably sending me a PM.
2. or..... a sent PM from a fellow trader that sees cards on my trade list.
3. I would rather avoid the TM at this time.
4. Once each of us can verify our inventory, the trade can commence. [definite safeguard on my part]
5. Now if either trader would like to enter the trade in the TM, that would be OK. The hope is that all cards are accounted for in the trade
6. WE CAN now Let the trade begin. I'm going to limit the number of offers and trades until I see how well the method works. Maybe I can up it in time or a specific trade is requested and the inventory is verified quickly.
NOTE: Remember, I'm dealing with 4 rooms of partial card reorganization, On my part, verifying may be just a bit longer. lol.
Of course this may have added more steps for some members, but better than in transit screwups, cards can't be found, unscrupulous traders and anything else that infects the trading process. With only a few offers and trades completed, I'm starting to feel like a reputable trader again. Fingers crossed, ~BOB~

Bob, I envy what you show as available and even things you have simply posted about as up for grabs, but this new plan you're instituting definitely eliminates me from trading with you because of the added work involved with tracking inventory and my collection. That's why I decided against a plan that I was going to present you several months ago to connect on a trade. It just cannot happen.
I cannot fathom having your four rooms of cards. Covet? Most definitely! But reading your plan makes no sense for me to jump at, especially since I'm trying to own just one of each card in my PC, and don't wish to own duplicates. I could foresee having many duplicates due to human error by not having the Transaction Manager assisting in the trade. I hope it works for you and whoever ends up trading with you.

Good morning all! I wanted to share my recent experience, mind you, caused by me. Having to take a sudden leave of absence due to some family illness, kids stuff and just got busy with with other projects. I had trades completed, everything was good. I should have turned off my trade lists, but I didn’t and hadn’t checkied in for a while. I had a few trade requests come in, that were withdrawn because I never responded. I had one trade offer that was still sitting there. The first thing I did was sent a message to the person, mainly apologizing for not responding. I also asked the person if they were still interested in trading, I looked through their list, and saw the cards they were asking for in the offer were already in their list. I haven’t accepted, countered or declined yet, as I’m waiting for their response.
But I think my point is as other have said, I always double check or pull the cards prior to sending a trade offer or accepting one. Just my way of verification. I also am starting to send a message prior to offering a trade to gauge their interest level.

Bob, it is more difficult to generate a trade when your wantlist is by player and not sets/numbers. Too much of a task to go thru each name if looking for example, all the 2009 Heritage you want.

I just looked at Bob's wantlist and selected "sets" with no issues. Had 3 choices, sets, team, player

Commish, Not necessarily true. If you wanted to trade and sent an offer because TM works for you, that's ok. You would have to alert me to turn on trading of course [I would shut it down after getting your proposal]. See in that case, I can review it and accept or decline based on my inventory. If it's going to take too long, I would inform you immediately.....or if I can't find the cards. It then becomes your decision. That way I eliminate the " I don't have or I can't find the cards"......which really irates traders.
Keep in mind, with my inventory, it is a safe guard that I can find the cards, not allow an offer or trade to drag on forever. I might not be able to get in 100s of trades but at least I can be accurate and timely. Also remember I have my "bulk trade" account to also satisfy. That has to be my controlled trading method for now. ~BOB~

Bob, I commend you on finding a method that works for you and working with it. We sometimes get too bogged down with the contraints of a "tool" and lose sight on the fact that tools are supposed to make something easier. (The corporate world forgets that all the time, especially in the software development life cycle, but I digress.) The Database is supposed to make your collecting life easier, not harder. It's supposed to make it less tedious to track your collections, want lists, and cards you have available to others. There's a reason I still haven't loaded, well, everything. It's not easy the way *I* have things to work with the database to get it all listed. Maybe someday, but not right now. So, what do I do? I use it in the ways I can to make my hobby easier to manage. Again, I commend Bob for finding that way to use the database as he can to make his hobby life easier!
