I took a break from trading over the summer; partially because of inventory issues. Last spring I started noticing my TCDB inventory was only about 90% accurate. It seems every trade I entered between January and May of this year had a card or two missing or I was getting cards I already had in my collection. It was getting tiresome and I felt my credibility as a trading member might suffer.
While doing a minor reinventory, I realized that I had hundreds of cards "in transit" eventhough I didn't have a single trade in progress. After a little research, I found that these were from one bad trade and a couple others that didn't complete correctly. All of them were older transactions.
Since I've started trading again this month, my inventory has been 99% accurate (I'm tracking it). I've only had a couple cards I could not find and I haven't recieved a single card that I already have. I think the missing cards are mainly due to organizational issues on my part because they were all oddballs and I store by set. Also, I am now paying close attention to my "In-transit" list. So far it has been perfect.
The bottom line is that most of the problems I was having were either my own sloppiness or problems with completing the transaction management process correctly.
I wish that when you selected "Transaction Complete" the cards were automatically moved and/or added to your inventory regardless of what steps you took before or what the other member's status is.
My two-cents is worth slightly more than a penny.
