I just found a box of mixed promo postcards....all kinds.
I can't find many of them listed here, but some are. Which means they are eligible, postcards of players etc are eligible.
What would be the prefered way of listing these?

Only post cards that were issued in sets are eligible for listing here. Single card off the wall post cards are not.

Not necessarily true. There are player postcards [I wouldn't know if they were off the wall or not] listed. So my answer would be no answer, although they are on TCDB, ?? Guess follow what I see......

Bob, you still seem to miss a point that Dan has tried to make several times over time. I am bolding some of my points here just so that it doesn't get lost in an explanation, and to put a little extra emphasis on my main idea.
Just because something is listed here does NOT mean it is supposed to be.
Level 6 permissions allow you to create set entries and do anything you want to in setting up a set. Level 5 allows you to enter checklists without any sort of review system except for yourself. As such, anyone with those permissions can enter whatever they want to on here, whether it belongs or not. This does not make it "acceptable."
Sometimes sets get listed here as a mistake when they don't belong. Sometimes people blatantly ignore site guidelines to add stuff. I understand that sometimes, the rules for inclusion can be confusing - heck, there are some that I don't fully understand, and if I had the time, I would offer to help edit the FAQ to make it a little clearer. But again, when anyone with L5 and L6 permissions can go behind Admin's back and add anything they want, we will undoubtedly have sets listed here that should not be.
If they are post cards issued in a set, with a verifiable checklist, then it is my understanding that they belong here. I don't personally agree, but hey, I can see where they could be considered a "trading card." However, going to your local drugstore and buying a postcard off of the rack would not qualify for inclusion on TCDB.
Perhaps posting a few at a time in the "Mystery Card Forum" would be a good way to get listing info and see if they can be entered here at all, rather than just placing a description of what you have. Plus, if you get more eyes on them, you may drum up more interest from membership if you're looking to trade/sell them.
-------------------------------
I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

Jason, I understand everything you said here but many things are so redundant. I spend hours researching what TCDB allows or disallows. It's frustrating to find items listed, then be told...uhhh, ahhh..You can't list that !, but only IF!, It's ok for some but not others, oh that's an Admin override...dadadada. Trust me, I'm not missing any point, because the point is NOT clear. In some cases, I feel you go with your gut feeling, if it's a mistake, oh well, it can be IRed. It's not like anyone committed a crime. There are so many so called mistakes on TCDB that the IR wire will be jammed for months, but nobody jumps in to IR them unless they stumble over one. I could IR 1000s of items, but I wouldn't. I asked a question, got an answer, got a lesson to boot, and that's it. Thx Dan, Thx Jason.

I don't think this is a misunderstanding at all.

This is what TCDB FAQs says about postcards:
Postcard
Postcard-sized releases that could be sent via postal mail.
As I have stated many times, clarification needs updating. For example, A member has some Team or Player Postcards, he compares size, it has the typical POSTCARD designation on the back to mail, great I can list it.
Do you see any other criteria necessary to list the postcard? No, I don't.

<sigh> That blurb which you quoted is on the page for sets.
The intention for postcard listings here are for those issued as a set, not for one-offs (or otherwise indeterminate origin).
Bob, I know you're going to continue to argue that the FAQs and all aren't clear enough, but when you're told by multiple members what the actual rule is, why do you continue to be so stubborn? Obviously, others understand the rule or guideline, and when you ask for assistance in the interpretation of such, why argue it? So you didn't understand it. Great. You asked about it. Even better. You don't like the answer. So you argue it. You got the answer, from multiple sources. Please understand that what you've been given is an accurate answer.
Just because you don't like the answer doesn't mean it was the wrong answer.
And, just like with most policies here, I have some really cool postcards. Some were released as sets, and are listed here, and I have them marked in my collection (at least I hope I do). I also have others that do not fit the criteria for inclusion. They still look cool on my wall. But they weren't issued as a set, so I can't (and won't) list them here.

So be it. Whatever. Just seems like being clueless, allows "stuff" to happen here. Crazy site sometimes. What to do, be clueless, and get reprimanded if "stuff" surfaces? OR Ask questions, maybe get an accurate answer, then a long winded lesson from our most knowledgeable members? lol.
