I'm not sure where this compares to any trades others have made this year, but I'm wanting to make another similar to this one that won us this title last year. Here are some characteristics of last year's deal between Pete and me:
- Almost card-for-card as he received 1130+ and I 1120+ even though Pete is a set collector and I'm a PC guy;
- Multi-sport trade;
- It was Want List based, although I did accept about 400 to expand my dwindling trade inventory;
- There were a handful of key RCs included;
- It was all in one transaction (#29813)
I'm approaching 500 completed trades with 13 in progress, so I'm hoping to complete one of this magnitude to be part of the next 500. If you're interested check my Trade List for matches. For my part I can easily add to a deal by expanding my Want list, but I'm basically a PC/team guy. The way it worked out with Pete was that I set up the trade based on his matches and scoured his Trade List for balance and that included looking at my own inventory for where I needed to build up my Traders. I'm willing to do that again, but at least 2/3 of the deal must be exact matches to my ever-growing Want List.
Let me know if you're interested. By the way, postage-wise, I believe I used a Priority Mail 2-Day™ Regional Rate Box A for just under $11.00 shipping.

Is that just one trade or all trades with the two of you in a year?

It was one trade, as stated above in the original post.

Compared to Sandy and me for a year, we may have you beat. But we make trade proposals for 200 to 300 cards. To make going over the lists easier. Then we get a bunch together and mail them off in a one-shot box. Plus he has two names here. Right now we have 3 confirmed proposals and one to confirm and its mailing time again. :) The next group to be mailed is around 1600 cards. I'll have to do the math after they hit the post, to see want our complete total is so far.
Yeah, we beat you. I just did the math. Our complete total cards are 3679 for this year, but it will be done with 10 trade proposals and 3 mailings groups. It's just easier that way. You two are only short 1426 cards for a year total with two people.
Have you done any other trades with AirPete this year? Add them up. See what a complete year comes to with just you two, rather than just one trade. I love numbers, I think it's interesting.

Nice ... However I think for a similar size effort from here (New Brunswick,Canada) i checked the Canada Post rates site and a "small packet" to the USA (max. I believe to be 2kg., don't think you'd get 1000 cards unless they were really thin...) costs $22.78C$ ...about double what it costs intra-USA.

Dan, I am always willing to consider trades to Canada, even of that size. Our friend, Bru, has helped me see that it's not that economically unreasonable to make large trades across our borders, especially if it includes vintage cards which my deals with Bru have always included. There are definite Canadian products that I have on my Want List so that in and of itself motivates me to seek trades with my friends up north.
RJ, I'm glad you're trading in large amounts AND even with our international friends. The point of my post was not about winning, but about me wanting to make one large deal again. When I made the trade with Pete I wasn't aware of that site award. And it still is only not a motivation to trade, but I used it in fun in my post title. I'm sure others have traded more than that cumulatively here and in other sites. That happened to be in one trade using that transaction tool, and bottom line I want to make another. That's why I posted.

If I'm reading it correctly, shipping to you in Canada, Dan, would cost me $17.25 for up to 32 oz (I'm not sure what the conversion to metric is). What I sent was closer to 20 oz. Very doable from my end.

32oz, I'd call that 2 lbs... or about 900 grams in our metric system (where 2.2lbs =1 kg or 1000grams). Canada Post site says to ship from 500 grams to 1 kg. would be in the neighbourhood of $17.50 C$ or about $13.40 US so somewhat reasonable...

My first box was a 900 count box and it cost just around $56 to post to Canada. I just put them all in one box the first time. I know now the price is about the size of the box + the weight. So two smaller boxes cost less than one big one, with the same amount of cards.
