Hi folks, relatively new to the site so maybe I am missing something.
I often go to my collection page and click on the link which matches items on my trade/for sale list with items on other people's wantlists. I then select a set and see a list of cards with matches. All good so far. If I click on view matches next to a card I get a list of people with that card in their collection or on their wantlist or on their trade/for sale list. Ok so the people with the card on their wantlist on my potential trading partners. The only problem is out of those people there does not seem to be an easy way to identify anyone who has something on my wantlist, except for clicking on each name and trying the matching process. This is labour intensive and often leads no where. Is there a way to streamline this process? Am I missing something?
Thanks,
R Haynes

For me the easiest way is to have Receive alerts when items on my want list and FS/FT list accures.
Check to see if you have your Receive alerts when items on your Wantlist or For Sale / Trade match other members' lists? turned off. That way you get matches every day or every hour and it shows match for card you need and what others need.
yes it is a pain to do it the way you are doing it.

The fastest way is to post a thread in the For Sale/Trade Forum stating that you are looking to trade. Then the active traders will come to you! Usually, they will check what you have and see if they have stuff you want before contacting you with either a PM or Transaction Offer.

I guess what I think would be nice is a relatively quick way to identify that a trade is "possible", ie. I have stuff that he/she needs and he/she has stuff I need. Of course even that doesn't guarantee a trade but it becomes worth the time to dig.

The method you describe in your original post is what I use except that, after being here awhile and making lots of trades, you recognize the members who are more likely to trade.

lol lol. The electronic world of trading.. Remember we used to have to go places and Travel.. Time commitment.. The hunt is part of it all. So yes. a few seconds, minutes (seems like hours computer wise, lol) is now what is all needed.. Send a proposal, send a message.. I have had a few trades with some that had never had trades showing because I took 60 seconds to send a message.
Give it a try and it will become a "Norm" with lots of excitement travelling to the mailbox..
Good Luck

A big part of finding trade partners is to put up stuff for trade! I have quite a bit up for trade....This is what I have currently...
and I know there are PLENTY of others that have much more than I :)

Gator, you are bang on. I rarely propose a trade as I receive so many without doing so. I can always counter these trades if there is something I want more specifically from someone. I have over 64,000 different baseball cards listed for trade, some in the other sports and non-sports categories, plus many more on my other ID. And I have a fairly expansive want list of 43,000 cards which I grew only to be able to make larger trades with someone who wanted many of my traders. And I am a very active trader who responds and fills trades quite quickly (usually within 24 hours), 16 of them on the go right now 4 of which were done this weekend and dropped in the mail this morning.
When I have looked for possible trades with someone who has somethign specific I would like, I find that many of the want list are very limited. And when someone asks for something from me, I check what they have for trade and it often is everything that they are already offering. So either they have very limited quantity to trade (if so, I suggest building up your trade pile if trading is what you want to do) or they only load "For Trade" what they are willing to offer which does not leave me any options other than take it or leave it.

What I am running into sometimes is that, while I have a good number in my for trade list, I need to add more and more to my want list. I have been trying to keep up with what I get and add in the stuff I need for sets (my primary concern with newer items) and as I get to go through some of my older sets, I am adding what needs to be "bettered".....I'm off work for a whole week coming up, so HOPEFULLY I can get a good bit caught up then!
