Should the checklists match what we find at the manufactuers website exactly? I am working on 2011-12 ITG Between the Pipes and before I anger whoever entered it originally I thought I had better ask. The DB has the lettered cards listed alphabetically but ITG does not, I would assume a master set would follow thier own checklist correct? They have them grouped by card description first then randomly by name. Should I have admin correct it so it is the same as the ITG website, I would think yes but I could be the idiot here.

The company websites are not always right compared to the card. Panini football checklists for inserts on their site are numbered and then when you look at the cards they are lettered. It drives me nuts.
I would go with what is on the card.

Leave them in alpha-order - it will be easier for people to find. (My opinion.)

As armac said sometimes the websites don't agree with the cards. Either because the company is extremely stupid or more often things get changed during the actual card production but is not reflected on the website.
I am of the philosophy that you should go by what the cards say not the website. It is similar to some of the vintage sets (and insert sets) that were not numbered on the cards, yet on every checklist on the internet you see the cards have numbers. Usually it is because someone later on listed the set alphabetically and then assigned the numbers that the alpha-order made them to be.
Then there are strange things like the 1971 Milk Duds Baseball cards (printed on the box of the candy). The cards are not numbered so often an alphabetical list is made and those numbers have sort of become the standard. However on one of the flap/tabs of the box there was an identifying number. According to this site/listing there were 3 sets of 24 cards, but due to double prints there are only 69 players so most lists only show 69 cards. Duplicated players are: Pete Rose, Harmon Killebrew and Brooks Robinson. http://www.sportscollectorsdaily.com/1971-milk-duds-baseball-cards-dud-collectors/

I collect: Baseball, Football, Hockey, Mostly Vintage pre1980, My Homie teams - Washington/Baltimore Teams Senators (Twins, Rangers), Expos/Nationals, Redskins, Capitals, Bullets/Wizards - HOFers - Non-sport (mostly TV shows and movies). My Trade List is very much a work in progress CaptKirk42s Trading Card Blog Curly W Cards Strive For '65 YouTube klandersen42

I'm in the opinon that when cards don't have actual numbers (NNO or letters) I prefer alphabetical order. It's easier to find a card/player.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

All great info as always, but this might need a bit more info to help out my explanation, ITG's list is as follows. The cards are in several groupings, each group with its own look and goes as such ..... Future Star - CHL, Future Star - AHL, Stars of the Game, Decades, Star and Stripes, La Belle Province, International Pioneers, One Hit Wonders. Within each "subset" the players are then listed alabetically by last name. (There are five anomolies to the case but I am guessing they were late additions) Cards are lettered A-?? due to them all being autos so when looking at thier list there is no rhyme or reason to the "numbers", but overall it leads to a clean look as a set because all the subsets are togethor. Here on the DB it is simply listed A-AA to A-ZZ (as an example). I agree its nice and easy to find a players card listing it this way, but I do not feel it corresponds to this databases's wishes of being as accurate as possible. I would never collect a set and sort it in that manor, I would group them together as ITG does. Hope that makes ense.

I think like was said that the manufacturers change their minds about the order. It may show up different on the site in a few weeks and can answer your question.

OK so now I have more info, I got to thinking if this set my be identical to the base set but only autographed. I am kinda right. The auto cards look different but are of the same players as the base set. Guess what, the base set IS organized by the subsets, just as I stated above. SO now this auto set is COMPLETELY out of whack basing it on the A-AA system used to be put on here. To me that goes completely against the grain and makes no sense, it may have a shorter card amount and use an alpha system but it SHOULD match the base set as it is basically a condensed parallel set. If you need to see it for yourself it is the 2011-12 In The Game Between the Pipes set (hockey), look at the base set and then look at the Authentic Goaliegraph set to see what I mean.
