To me the second card looks correct.

Always orient to the photo. Your first link to the Aikman card is correctly oriented.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

I will defer to your wisdom despite my objections. I've changed the incorrectly orientated card. Thanks!!

In the case of 2003-2004 Fleer Avant the majority of the scans are orientated with the card number despite the text running the opposite direction. I think the back of the card should always be orientated to the card number.
I did notice that there are some cards posted that are orientated with the text, not the card number. Consistency is a challenge sometimes. I think Sesame Street says it best, "one of these things is not like the other".

This sort of addresses a complaint I have with the lack of standardization with horizontal fronts by the companies. I'm a bit OCD and when I see horizontal cards on a page but oriented differently because the back determines which side is the top it bothers me. I could easily just oriented all horizontal cards one way or the other, but then I start thinking about it and will turn it back the way the card company meant it to be.
Anyway, just needed to vent and this seemed to help. I feel better.

Not entirely on point, but one set that bothers me in 1992 Topps football. In series one, the fronts of the horizontal cards have the name on one side (the right, I think) when in pages, where series two has the name on the other side.

Trying to acquire one card for every for every set, insert, parralle, minor, euro, team issue, oddball etc sets produced for Hockey. Been an interesting project.
