Card Identification Forum

Thanks for input folks...  hopefully I'll be able to find the rest of the set.  If anyone sees anyarounnd please drop me a line.

Looks like I might be looking at two sets here...  I have managed to find a couple more to add to my collection and thought I was making a pretty decent start on the checklist.  someone on another forum linked a scan of the Jimy Wynn card and it has 1999 date on the back instead of 1998 like the ones I have.  Back to the drawing board I guess.  Waiting on a couple deliveries for the ones I bought in last couple of weeks.. (Gary Carter, Phil Niekro, Catfish Hunter, Duke Snider, Fergie Jenkins and Jim Fregosi??...  Fregosi was one i found on ebay and hadnt seen his name mentioned with this set before.)

 Getting a little closer to figuring it out. Catfish came in the mail yesterday... still waiting on Duke, Niekro and Fregosi cards to be delivered.

OK..  Quick update. There are definately 2 sets, 1998 and 1999.  The 1998 set has 16 cards (still trying to determine checklist and full player list), the 1999 set has 13 players (still working on checklist, but have all the names).  1998 cards have red star border at top, 1999 have red star border at the bottom.  There at least a couple of repeats from one year to the next and they use the same picture for both years just maybe cropped a little. Gary Carter, Fred Lynn and Fergie Jenkins for sure.

Getting a little closer to completing this set.  still a ways to go though.  Fregosi came in the mail yesterday.  Actually thought it was lost in the post.  I purchased on 8th August and as of 4 days ago it hadn't been delivered yet.  I contacted the seller and he refunded me within 2 hours of me sending the message and advised that the card was sent next day.  He said that he'd had a few things gone missing in the post recently.  Card came in yesterday, so contacted seller to find a way to get his money back to him, it's not much but integrity is important from both sides.  He did right by me with the refund, only fair for me to do the same.

Well done there Smokin Joe.  Also, as to the title of this forum, I'm listening to Hrabosky call the Cardinals game on tv right now. He just said the pitcher should have thrown the ball at the umpire after the ump called a late timeout.  I like Al.

As a fellow Hungarian, I’ve always been a huge fan of Al.
