I have this card I believe is circa 1888 John Shaw of Minneapolis. I think its a possible cabinet card. However I cant find the set anywhere nor any information on the player John Shaw. Any help out there .
Thanks,
Bart

John Shaw of the Minneapolis Millers. It is a cabinet card made by photographer Arthur Rugg. But it looks like he attached a Goodwin photo/image to his cardstock. I found one other card of Thomas McCullom from the Minneapolis Millers. Maybe he made is own set of the local team using Goodwin's photos.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

For circa 1888, that card is in very nice shape

Thanks so much for the information. Do you think I can add this to the database?

IMHO, no. Like I said it looks like he took another company's copyrighted images and created his own cards. It could have been legit. The local team and Goodwin might have given license for the cards.
This may be one Admin needs to approve. And if so, a checklist would need to be found.

John Shaw was offered by Goodwin as a cabinet in 1888 (he appears on the 1888 cabinet checklist). This is image 414-6. I agree that the photographer probably took the images off Old Judge cabinets and placed them on his stock.
