   I definitely used the word "insert" as the adverb and should've paid more attention as I do know what insert and parallel sets are in this community. As for the other details, I feel silly for not knowing or thinking about the box bottoms vs box tops sold as some of the "rare, blank back" listings I've seen.

    Side note-  it is crazy trying to understand why and how some enjoy scamming others...I recently checked on some of thdir methods after I looking  up a Numbered Insert card I pulled right out of a pack only to find someone selling the EXACT same numbered card - a 12/25- on ebay and no, it wasn't a variation or legitimate card.

Wouldn't the "card" cut from the top of the box be slightly smaller than a standard card? I know the true "Box Bottom" cards are standard size, but the top is just an image of the card, part of the box design not necessarily designed to be cut as a card.

Yes, I mentioned that already.  Not sure about the width since I don't have a box handy.

The Pete Rose fake card referenced above is just the sample image printed on the box.  Ebay scammers will cut the images from the boxes and try to pass them off as "blank backs" or "blank back proofs".  You'll notice on the Pete Rose "card" that the "BASEBALL" banner overlays the bottom of the card.  To cut this "card" straight on the bottom edge will make the "card" undersized; less than 3-1/2 inches.

It varies. Some were smaller (most, I'd wager) while some were larger. I remember there was one set that actually included a card tack glued to the box lid, although I can't remember which set it was and if it was a full card or just the front of one. This would have been mid 1990s.

1994 (1995 too?) Bowman's Best BB comes to mind, full size card, but blank backed.
