Just trying to confirm ID on this Kobe card

It looks like a reprint of his 1996-97 Fleer RC. It is 23kt. gold and features what looks to be a facsimile purple signature.

However, I do not see a 23kt. gold set in 1996-97. Is this the card from the 1997-98 set? There is no picture of that card.

I didn't pay anything for this, so it's only bothersome because I am trying to figure out what exactly it is so I can try to mark it in my collection. Thank you for any help!
