I loved the D500 this year. It was everything I expected it to be. My favorite driver (JJ) got taken out again by no fault of his own, but that seems to be the trend with him. No one else in a car wants to see him there at the end. Daytona is always exciting and there is always some controversy. The #3 should not have won that race. He was barely hanging in the Top-15 all day and that was a dirty move at the end to beat Almirola. Almirola really shouldn't have been there at the end either IMO. Neither car or driver is top-tier, but that's what Daytona produces... surprise winners.

I was very impressed with Bubba Wallace today. Billy and I are both the top collectors of him if you check the list of most cards in a collection of him. I knew he would be good if he got a shot at a Cup car and he proved that for sure today. Fantastic run for Bubba to finish 2nd. I really wish FOX wuld have went into why Crybaby pinned him to the wall after the race (for those unfamiliar with NASCAR, Crybaby is Denny Hamlin). Bubba was scrubbing the speed from Hamlin at the end to try to beat him to the line. It worked perfectly and Crybaby shoved Bubba into the wall after the race ended. Hamlin is such a sore loser. He would have done the EXACT same thing to finish the race and has done it before, but then he whines when it happens to him. Anyway, it was nice to not see the same drivers at the front this year in the closing laps. NASCAR needs diversity to keep it alive. I hope NO driver gets even close to 8 wins like Truex Jr. had last year. I have no problem with Martin, but I want to see a multitude of winners this year. I'd LOVE to see all 16 Chase spots get filled by race winners! The final several spots for the Chase are usually filled by points instead of wins. There are now 25 races left to get winners into the Chase.

I REALLY want to see 16 different winners in the 26 regular season races! It hasn't happened since the Chase for the Cup started so far, but this year is a good chance for it to happen. There are so many young drivers this year that a few "1st wins" could line up just right to make the Top-16 be only race winners.

I was fine with Truex winning a lot last year, I was just glad it wasn't Jimmie Johnson or Kyle Busch.  Martin isn't exactly a new guy, but it was nice to see someone that wasn't talked about all the time before last year be so successful.  I do hope a few of the young guys get wins this year though because the sport is going to need some new stars now that so many has left the last few years.  I also hope we see another female driver in the next few years.  Actually I hope there are at least two so there isn't so much hype and pressure on either one.  I never hated Danica, I just got tired of all the hype and such little results.  I don't really know what her future plans are, but it would be cool if she would mentor a couple female drivers that are one the rise.  At the moment I can't even think of any, but I know ther are some.

While I also complain about the races being on cable too much (which they are, but thats a different complaint), I am happy FS1 and NBCSN does show the K&N series and some of those other races,  While I don't get the channels, its nice to see the coverage for them and hopefully it will build fans for those drivers as they rise through the ranks.  I'm curious if Fox will start showing more races on their broadcast network if/when the big sale goes through with Disney.  The leftovers of Fox is said to be more focused on live programming, and if so, I hope they will show all Cup races (that they have rights to), and a few more Xfinity races.  I know they'll still need programming for FS1, but this would be a great way to rebuild a fanbase.  It would also be nice during the next contract session if Fox got exclusive rights to all NASCAR events, so you wouldn't have to remember which channel has rights each week.

The races do get on my nerves when they run past their scheduled time and interfere with the UFC, forcing the fights to FS2, but I now get that channel, so it's all good.

Here's the breakdown of the Cup races this year. Fox has 17 races (not counting the Clash and the Duels) and only 7 will air on FS1. I don't know how they chose which races to air where, but Martinsville, Bristol and Sonoma really should be on FOX instead of FS1. Only 4 of the Xfinity races will air on FOX.

NBC has 20 races and only 7 of them will be on NBC! The rest are on NBCSN and that's a bit ridiculous to me. The 7 races are the July Daytona race, Watkins Glen in August and 5 of the 10 Chase races, including the last 2. Only 4 Xfinity races will air on NBC.

For the truck series, it's been standard for a long time that almost every race was on Speed/FS1. This year, only the October Talladega race will air on FOX and the rest will be FS1.
